A Brilliant Butterfly Card from Jan Dufour

One of the perks of having a large, joy-filled Stampin’ Up! team is that I receive wonderful, joy-filled cards in the mail. Each one is special to me – I love the see how talented the Royals are when they share in our Facebook group or during our monthly blog hops, but nothing makes me happier than to receive a friendly card from my team members. Incidentally, I also love receiving cards from my talented, joy-filled customers.

Today, I’m sharing a card I received from Jan Dufour, a member of my InKing Royalty team and Julie DiMatteo’s Paper Pixies team. Jan showcases the Butterfly Brilliance stamp set beautifully and tops all that beauty with the largest of the coordinating Brilliant Wings Dies.

Here’s the gorgeous card Jan shared with me:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Butterfly Brilliance. I know, I know. We’ve been talking about the early-release Butterfly Brilliance Bundle for a while now, but there really is so much to love about this bundle, so it’s worth one more look. If you haven’t picked up this bundle yet, then (please forgive my frankness) you’re just being stubborn. I get it – you have a lot of butterfly stuff. Unless you have the Butterfly Brilliance Bundle, thought, you don’t have ALL of the butterfly stuff you need. Here’s a look at the Butterfly Brilliance Bundle: Butterfly Brilliance Bundle, Stampin Up!, 155821Point of interest: The Butterfly Brilliance stamp set features ONE stamp that includes all six butterflies. The detailed butterflies at the top are single dies that crop out each butterfly. The darkened shaped below are ONE die that cut out the entire collection of butterflies (did you know a collection of butterflies is called a kaleidoscope?). I love that feature. For just $17, you can also purchase another stamp set and cut the butterflies out so you can use them individually. You’re so smart!
  • Orderable Again! With a delicate hand, Jan added beautiful backgrounds of color (I’m pretty sure she used Rococo Rose and Bumblebee) with the help of Blending Brushes. These things are AMAZING! The Blending Brushes were immediately popular when released in January, resulting in a low supply. After the product has been turned off and unorderable for a while, a new shipment is on its way, and they can be ordered once again! Here’s a look at the Blending Brushes:  Blending Brushes, Stampin Up! 153611While you can rinse them with water and use them over (the inks don’t transfer), I don’t have a faucet in the Fungeon, so I picked up a couple of packs. I labeled them and store them in these little fryer baskets I picked up a while back. Even though they are labeled, I have a blue one, a green one, a pink one, an orange one…and can use them for a variety of shades. • A Closer Look. On the surface, this card looks like it might just be pink and yellow with black accents, but Jan snuck in some beautiful color beneath the shiny, large butterfly. The color is almost a surprise here. Here’s a closer look at the largest butterfly that Jan covered with a Wink of Stella Glitter Brush on Thick Basic White before cropping it out with the Brilliant Wings Die:Butterfly Brilliance, Stampin Up!, by Jan DufourYou can see some color underneath, but you don’t know how beautiful it is until you gently peel back the wing a bit. I don’t know each and every color Jan used on this beautiful card, but here are the basics:

Bundles: Butterfly Brilliance  Stamp Sets: Butterfly Brilliance  Papers: Rococo Rose, Basic Black, Basic White, Thick Basic White  Inks: Rococo Rose, Bumblebee  Accessories: Brilliant Wings Dies, Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, Blending Brushes, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you appreciate Jan’s beautiful card as much as I do. ♥

I learned about using brushes to color with over a year ago from an from an Australian demonstrator. Her top for cleaning the brushes was to rub them on a a microfiber cloth. It works like a charm!

  8. Love the background under the butterfly. Just a beautiful card Jan. Thanks for sharing it Brian. Also, thanks to Maureen for the terrific hint on using a microfiber cloth to clean the brushes!
