Sneak Peek: Hand-Penned Petals and Scalloped Contours

Having new products can sometimes feel overwhelming. While I love all the new products I’ve ordered from Stampin’ Up!’s 2021 Annual Catalog (demonstrators can pre-order select items from the new catalog now), I don’t like to play favorites. Still…I have to make something, right? I cut fun shapes with some of my new dies, tossed them around the table a bit and came up with this sweet card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Three New. My simple (but layered) card features three new products from Stampin’ Up!’s 2021 Annual Catalog – a bundle, a set of dies from a different bundle and a new Designer Series Paper. Here’s a quick look at these new products:
    • Hand-Penned Petals Bundle (#155492, p. 105 of the new catalog). Beautiful flowers and gorgeous sentiments – what more could you want from the Hand-Penned Petals Bundle? • Scalloped Contours Dies (#155560, p. 98 of the new catalog). The Color & Contour Bundle is another mix of beautiful flowers and sentiments. While there are some floral dies, the Scalloped Contours Dies are mostly made up of scalloped panels that are perfect for any cards or tags. Here’s a look at these dies: Scalloped Contours Dies, Stampin Up! 155560
    • Subtles 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (#155229, p. 134 of the new catalog). During Sale-a-Bration, Stampin’ Up! offered selections of the new Designer Series Paper Stacks as an incentive to join. While lots of new team members collected their new stacks when they joined, demonstrators were able to order them for a limited time before Sale-a-Bration. This So Saffron panel is one of the new patterns.
  • Sensible Shine. Some people will go to great lengths to to add shiny elements to a card. It’s rare that you’ll ever see me use … can I even say the word? … glitter on my projects? While I might have fallen under the spell of the perfectly secure Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper last Fall (not one glitter flake escaped from that beautifully designed paper), you won’t find other glitter in my Fungeon (that’s my craft space). The only other exception – Wink of Stella. Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, Stampin' Up! 141897With just the wipe of a pen, I added shine to the flowers (before I glued them to this Misty Moonlight panel) for a brilliant shine. • Color Combination. My color favorites come and go. As an example, I’ll work with Coastal Cabana every day for a month and then won’t touch it again for a long time. Part of that is impacted by the seasons, and part of that is impacted by the colors Stampin’ Up! works into its Designer Series Papers. For some reason, I’ve been using a lot of So Saffron lately. I think it pairs beautifully with Misty Moonlight. If you like this mix of Basic White, So Saffron and Misty Moonlight as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference: Stampin Up! 1. What a gorgeous way to use the die! I hadn’t even noticed it and you have made my heart go pitter pat with this amazing card.

    • Awwww…thanks, Mary! I cropped the flowers in a couple of different colors – the So Saffron cutout won because it looked so good against the Misty Moonlight. Thanks!

  2. Great color combination and design. Love the die-cut flowers. So pretty! Enjoy your day!

  3. Love yellow and blue together! You really show cased those dies well. Lovely card!

  4. I received my catalog for the new year yesterday and already am reading the want ads in the paper so I can support my stamping habit! LOL Beautiful card today Brian and I love the scalloped rectangles.

    • I just got this set and it is a bit overwhelming….I will follow your lead and just play a bit with it! This is very pretty!

    • There are SO MANY wonderful goodies in this catalog, aren’t there, Grace?! I’m excited you like it and with you luck finding a part-time job. Ha! ♥

  5. Brian, great color combo, I too order this bundle, looking forward to playing with it. Thank you for this wonderful sample. In addition to the flowers, this set has a fun font.

  6. Stunning! Love the color combination!

  7. Beautiful card. I love the simplicity of the design complemented by the sweet scalloped border. Wonderful colors too.

  8. Hi Brian. You break my heart with your comments about glitter. I LOVE glitter and have even discovered how to custom color clear glitter using reinkers. I “attended” the Atlanta OnTour this morning and was hoping to get into a group with you, but no such luck. I always love your clean design style.

    • ♥♥♥ Thank you so much, Kathy! Your love of glitter frightens me and makes me worry for your safety. You seem like a sweet person, but custom-coloring glitter sounds too dangerous and unnecessary. 🙂 Would have loved to meet you.

  9. Stunning card! I also love the color combination!

  10. Brian, just want to let you know I just purchased the Champagne Shimmer paint and I think it is just like Wink of Stella. I love Wink of Stella! I even like the name Wink of Stella! I just replenished my Wink of Stella. Now I won’t run out because i have both products! A little goes a long way!

    • Thank you so much for letting me know! The glimmer/shimmer papers used to shed like crazy, but I’ll admit they have been better and holding on to their shine lately. I like to say “Wink of Stella,” too. 🙂
