Hello, Artistically Inked!

From the moment I first saw Stampin’ Up!’s 2021 Annual Catalog, I have been excited to get my hands on the products in the Expressions in Ink Suite of products. The textured watercolors, sweet colors and variety of sentiments makes this suite a must-have. As soon as the bundle arrived, I knew I’d be working with the gorgeous “thanks” sentiment and watercolor flowers. I strayed from that plan a bit but completed my goal of inking up this amazing bundle. Here’s the card I made:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Artistically Inked. My card features a sentiment and background watercolored image from the Artistically Inked stamp set, a Distinktive stamp that results in many layers on textured ink with just one ink and one stamp of the stamp. My card also features a GORGEOUS branch of leaves. Here’s a look at the Artistically Inked Bundle, which includes the Artistically Inked stamp set (red rubber, Distinktive cling stamp) and the coordinating Artistic Dies: Artistically Inked Bundle, Stampin Up! 155456I mean, really. How could this NOT be on your wish list!? While I had big plans with the flowers in this stamp set and dies, that watercolor background and branch of leaves really won me over. The coordinating Expressions in Ink Specialty Designer Series Paper is filled with beautiful backgrounds and a little bit of gold shine. While I didn’t use this paper on my card today, I have no doubt I’ll be showcasing it soon. • Inking, Inking, Inking. I built the large watercolored image with the large stamp in the Artistically Inked stamp set. I carefully stamped it a couple of times with Polished Pink ink to give the look of a cloud of pink ink. LOVE that. That’s not the only time I used this stamp on this card, though. Here’s a closer look:Artistically Inked Bundle, Stampin Up!, Brian KingI cropped the leaves twice – once with Shaded Spruce cardstock and once with Thick Basic White cardstock. After I cropped the white branch, I stamped over it with the large background stamp and Granny Apple Green ink. It really gives these leaves a lovely look.
  • Color Combination. The principle colors in my card (Polished Pink and Shaded Spruce) are pulled from the Expressions in Ink Specialty Designer Series Paper and the colors featured in the catalog samples for this suite. To temper the brightness of Polished Pink and the richness of Shaded Spruce, I added a little Pool Party to my card. If you like this mix of Polished Pink, Pool Party and Shaded Spruce as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:Stampin Up! 1. Love that you mimicked the effect of the DSP in this suite through your own stamping.
