For Linda: Friendships Refresh the Soul

Candy Ford is a member of my InKing Royalty team and has a great group of her own, The Candy Hearts. I don’t participate in a lot of blog hops, but I wouldn’t miss today’s Candy Hearts Blog Hop for the world because it honors a very special friend.

Welcome to the Candy Hearts Blog Hop for May! Today we are honoring Linda Krueger, a Candy Heart and InKing Royal who passed away suddenly earlier this month. We are CASEing some of Linda’s projects she has shared on her blog. After reading my post, I hope you will hop to the next person on the list below. Be sure to hop around to see ALL the great projects the Candy Hearts have created for you!

Linda

I first met Linda in 2015 when she came to my house to help me get ready for a craft sale I was hosting. Linda (always the first to show up and the last to leave) was always great at getting things organized and creating helpful tasks. She was always at my World Card Making Day and Stamp-along events, too, running the welcome desk and organizing table settings. Here’s a picture of Linda and me at one of Stampin’ Up!’s events with the stamp sets we one during prize patrol:

with LindaI will always remember Linda for her kind soul and calm demeanor. She was always so hospitable to my Mom at my events Mom attended. She always checked in on Mom while I was running the events and made sure Mom was comfortable. More than one of my events lined up with big football games that neither of them wanted to miss, and Linda set up an iPad at the back of the room so they could both follow the game and stamp.

Friendship Refreshes the Soul

Here’s the card I made for today’s blog hop that showcases products from the Beauty of the Earth Suite in Stampin’ Up!’s 2021 Annual Catalog:

Beauty of Friendship, Stampin Up!, Brian King

Not only does my card draw its inspiration from one of Linda’s cards, but it’s also an appropriate statement of how Linda will be remembered. Here’s the card that Linda made several years ago that inspired my card (you can click on the picture below to see her original post for this project):

The sentiment and trio of birds on the front panel of my card are from the Beauty of Friendship Bundle, the first bundle showcased in Stampin’ Up!’s 2021 Annual Catalog. The 1/2″ strips of Designer Series Paper behind the panel are from the Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper, part of that suite of products.

Here’s a look at the Beauty of Friendship Bundle, which is comprised of the Beauty of Friendship Photopolymer stamp set and coordinating Beautiful Trees Dies:

Beauty of Friendship, Stampin Up!, Brian KingHere’s a look at the colors and patterns in the GORGEOUS Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper that I used to create the strips behind the focal panel:

Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, 155841I pulled colors for my panels, frames and birds straight from the colors in this pack of papers. If you like this mix of Cinnamon Cider, Cajun Craze and Misty Moonlight as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:

Stampin Up! Color Inspiration - Cinnamon Cider, Cajun Craze, Misty MoonlightWhile there is no yellow in the pages of Beauty of the Earth I selected for my card, I applied Daffodil Delight ink to the base panel of my card with a Blending Brush. Not only does that mimic the sponged ink on Linda’s card, but it adds a beautiful light to the warm colors in this card.

Thank you for hopping with the Hearts today! Be sure to hop around to all the stops. You do not want to miss any of the creativity in this talented group of stampers! If you get lost, use the list below.

Thanks for stopping by today!

    • Thank you so much, Cindie! Linda was one of those people we’ll never forget. She was never a “look at me” person, but we all knew she was there and enjoyed her company and friendship. ♥

  13. Your card is wonderful, B, and I love that photo of you and Linda with her holding her stamp set upside down. Classic!

    • I noticed that, too, when I was posting the picture. Knowing Linda, this could have been her “ultimate punk” to me or just a classic mistake. Either way, it made me smile. Thanks, Candy!
