Thinking of You with Beauty of Friendship

If you are like me, then you were immediately smitten with the Beauty of the Earth Suite – we have seen lots of trees in the past (and I’m sure we’ll see more), but there’s something really special about how the Beauty of Friendship bundle elevates these trees. I used the Beauty of Friendship Bundle and a strip of Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper to make this “thinking of you” card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Beauty of Friendship. My simple card features a sentiment from the Beauty of Friendship stamp set and three dies from the coordinating Beautiful Trees Dies (the large tree is cropped from Cinnamon Cider cardstock, the sentiment is cropped from Thick Basic White and the bird is cropped from Poppy Parade cardstock). You can try all you want to push off this bundle (you have trees already), but you are going to need to get it – it’s quite a wonderful bundle. Here’s a look at the Beauty of Friendship Bundle:Beauty of Friendship Bundle, Stampin Up! 155834While I only used a 1-1/2 strip of the sky blue design in the Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper, this paper plays well with the rest of the design and gives me a gorgeous texture for my card. • Layout. Does the layout of my card seem familiar to you? Several weeks ago, I shared this  card with stamps and paper from the You’re a Peach Designer Series Paper (you can click on the photo if you’d like to see my original post for this card):Sweet as a Peach Bundle, Stampin Up! Brian KingI was so happy with the impact of this simple layout that I decided to make another with products from the Beauty of the Earth Suite. The layout of today’s card was exactly like the one above – until I tried to adhere the focal panel to the card base. That’s when I realized the tree was too tall for a landscape card. There’s a fix for that! Since I had glued everything down and needed to change the orientation of the panel, I simply snipped a little off the left side and a little off the right side of the panel with my guillotine cutter. • Color Combination. There’s something so warm and comforting about a beautiful mix of browns and blues – makes the color combination perfect for a “thinking of you” card. Even though only Misty Moonlight is featured in the Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper panel I used on my card, I pulled in all three colors from the pack of papers. If you like this warm mix of Misty Moonlight, Cinnamon Cider and Early Espresso as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:Stampin Up! Color Inspiration - Misty Moonlight, Cinnamon Cider, Early EspressoThe tiny red bird on my tree adds a bright pop of color to this warm landscape – a small symbol of hope on this card.

  1. The color combination on this card are FANTASTIC. And the pop of red for the bird….PERFECT!

  2. The cardinal is the perfect pop of color for that beautiful card. Love the Misty Moonlight strips as well. Perfectly lovely, my friend!

  3. This was my favorite suite in the new catalog and I’m so glad I have it. I think the DSP is fantastic and, as your card shows, the tree dies are exquisite. Love that you put a little Cardinal (my favorite bird) propped on the tree limb. Great card as always Brian.

    • 🙂 Thanks, Grace! I love this bundle, but the papers are FANTASTIC! ♥ So glad you like this suite, too, and can’t wait to see what you make with it.

  4. I like the background you created here. Makes the tree stand out even more. I have this suite arriving today and looking forward to playing when I get back from vacay! Thanks for the inspiration!

    • Thank you so much, Windy! It’s a gorgeous tree – I enjoyed playing with it on this card. Glad you like it and hope you’ve had a wonderful vacation!

  5. Always love your cards, Brian, but had to take the time to comment on this one. Absolutely perfect layout of course–as exhibited by the fact it’s perfect with other papers/stamps. But this tree/bird thing with that paper–even more perfect. Color combo is one of my faves, too. This is a definite CASE!

    • Thank you so much, Terri! I’m so happy you like this card. I’ve been playing with this layout a lot – it’s very adaptable. It’s so wonderful to hear from you! ♥
