I Love You No Matter What

I often times create projects several days or a week ahead of time. I had no plan for today’s project, though, until I opened my email from the Global Design Project with this week’s challenge. I love Emma Goddard’s inspiration project and couldn’t wait to create. Here’s my card:

Henna Hearts, Through It Together, Stampin Up!, Brian KingAlthough I completed 221 challenges as a designer at The Global Design Project, I never got to work with Emma. Here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

GDP296When we CASE (Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit), we find inspiration in a project – theme, color combinations, layout, products used – and create our own project by making changes to make it our own.  When CASEing, it’s important to give credit to the original designer – it doesn’t take away from your project at all. Like many of the design team members, I was inspired by the fun layout on Emma’s card – the stripes are a key element along the left side of her focal point. Such fun inspiration!

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Henna Hearts. My card combines two stamp sets that are new in Stampin’ Up!’s 2021 Annual Catalog – the image is from Henna Heart and the sentiments is from Through it Together. While my first inclination is to color the beautiful patterns in the Henna Hearts image, there’s something very powerful about leaving it black-and-white. Here’s a look at the images in Henna Hearts: Henna Hearts, Stampin Up! 155665It might not be immediately visible, but the heart on my card is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I stamped the image twice – once on this 3-1/8″ square of Thick Basic White and once on a scrap of Thick Basic White. I colored the heart with a Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blend and then cut it out around the thin white border around the heart. I popped it up just over the heart in the original design.Henna Heart, Through It Together, Stampin Up!, Brian King
  • Through it Together. There’s something pretty amazing about unconditional love. “I love you no matter what” is a sentiment that stood out to me in the new Through it Together stamp set, but I didn’t have an appropriate place for it until I built the card I’m sharing with you today. Here’s a look at the supportive, loving and gratitude-filled sentiments in Through it Together: Through It Together, Stampin Up! 155796That’s 21 great sentiments that are designed to be an important part of a project but to not steal the show from the other elements. So many great sentiments in this set, but “I love you no matter what” is, by far, my favorite.
  • Beautiful Rainbow. I pulled the page of black-and-white stripes from the Pattern Party (Host) Designer Series Paper, available with Stampin’ Rewards on orders over $150. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Pattern Party Designer Series Paper: Pattern Party Host Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, 155426I colored the white stripes with 6 rainbow colors, a mix of bright and soft tones for a perfect mix of ROYGBI colors (I left off the V for composition on my card). If you like this mix of colors, please save this for future reference: Stampin Up! Color Inspiration - Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Balmy Blue, Highland Heather

Stamp Sets: Henna Hearts, Through it Together  Papers: Pattern Party Designer Series Paper, Poppy Parade, Basic Black, Thick Basic White  Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versamark, Stampin’ Blends (Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Balmy Blue, Highland Heather)  Accessories: Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Heat Tool, Stampin’ Dimensionals

There’s never a bad time to tell the people you love that you love them without conditions – you never know who might need to hear it. I hope you’ll pop over to the Global Design Project site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!
