Celebrate for the InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Many of my Stampin’ Up! team members (not only those with blogs) share their gorgeous projects in our team’s Facebook community – there’s such amazing and inspiring creativity in this group! I’m always excited when my team’s blog hop rolls around, though, because I get to share some of their amazing work with you. I’m just as excited to see their projects as you are, and I am proud to share them with you.

06-2021 IRBH StarsWelcome to InKing Royalty’s June Blog Hop! During this year’s blog hops, we are having fun with our stamping favorites – our favorite themes for seasonal cards and projects. This month’s projects feature stars. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

Celebrating the Fourth of July

There are thousands of reasons to feature stars on a card – birthdays, Christmas and celebrations immediately come to mind. The Fourth of July isn’t the first thing to come to mind (since I don’t normally send July 4 cards), but I went with it! Using a beautiful combination of red, white and blue(s) and a die from a Christmas-themed bundle, I created a card I’m happy to share. Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Products. My Fourth of July card features a pair of star dies from the Christmas Trimmings Dies, part of the Tidings & Trimmings Bundle (new in Stampin’ Up!’s 2021 Annual Catalog). I love the ribbon-wrapped look of this star die that I cropped with Thick Basic White cardstock. Before cutting it out, I layered the cardstock with Adhesive Sheets so it would perfectly adhere to the red star cutout below it. Together, they are quite stunning! Here’s a closer look: Celebrate Sunflowers, Stampin Up!, Brian KingLike so many other projects since Stampin’ Up!’s 2021 Annual Catalog launched, I used a page from the Pattern Party Designer Series Paper as a base for my card. I LOVE the pages in this host-only pack of papers. If ever there were a reason to place a $150 order, this is it! • Layout. The layout on today’s card was inspired by a card I shared in October 2019 – I shifted some of the elements around a bit, but the overall layout worked well with the elements on today’s card. Here’s a look at the project I shared in 2019 (you can click on the image below if you’d like to see my original post for this project):Everything Festive, Let it Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingBy shifting a layout and changing elements on a card, you can really take another project and make it your own. Of course, this was my project I CASE’d (Copy and Share Everything). I think today’s project is a fun update of this inspiration project.
  • Colors.  I’ve always had an affinity for red, white and blue color combinations – I guess it’s been ingrained in me at an early age. Pool Party is a great addition to the mix because it pairs well with dark blue, and the pale blue looks great with red. If you like this combination of Pool Party, Misty Moonlight and Real Red as much as I do, I hope you will save this for future reference:Stampin Up! 1. I love the colors! That star is stunning and really gets your attention. Another to add to my list.

    • Thanks, Jackie! I was immediately drawn to this star in the new Christmas set and couldn’t wait to use it – wasn’t originally planning for it to be a July 4 star, but… β™₯

  2. One of my favorite color combinations of yours and another great card.

  3. Beautiful card. Love the color palette….red white and blue but not the traditional hue. Such a fun hop today Brian!!! I also like recycling layouts. No need to reinvent the wheel!

  4. The two white framed pieces behind the star really caught my attention. I’m FOR SURE going to be ordering this set. TFS!

  5. Love the star! Great mix of colors! This could also be a bday card…my mom loves red, white and blue.

  6. I have to admit that I LOVED every one of them! I’m glad you didn’t ask me to pick a favorite Brian. What a talented group of stampers for sure and each with their own take on the challenge. Congrats to all.

    • Thank you so much, Grace! I was certain everyone would make July 4 cards, but I was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful variety! β™₯

  7. I love that you pulled a star from a Christmas set for a 4th of July card! I wonder how many sets I overlook because they’re stashed as Christmas! The die on the star reminds me of icing. Could be made into cookies too. πŸ™‚ Great card!

  8. Love the colors! This bundle is now worth another look. Great card using a Christmas stamp set to make a non-Christmas card.

I love this card. The colors are great and I now have a great design to use with this set – I just got it a couple of weeks ago. Thank you for always sharing.

  10. I love it. Clean and simple with a pop. You really are a star!

  11. Gorgeous! Would you mind sharing the dimensions of the smaller layered rectangles? Thanks!
