Paper Pumpkin Alternatives – Let the Adventure Begin

Yesterday I hosted my monthly Zoom call with my Paper Pumpkin customers – during our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call, I share some fun ideas with the items included in the monthly kit, and my customers share their brilliant ideas. It’s always such fun to see what others are making and to spend that time with my customers who participate. I’ll host a similar call with my InKing Royalty team members this afternoon. Can’t wait to see what they make!

Pumpkin in the Fungeon, Brian KingToday I’m sharing three alternative projects with this months’ Let the Adventure Begin kit – such a versatile kit with some great images and sentiments! Here’s a look at the finished projects from the July 2021 Let the Adventure Begin Paper Pumpkin kit:

Let the Adventure Begin Paper Pumpkin Kit, Stampin Up!Each of the nine cards is designed as a tri-fold with fun elements on each layer. These cards celebrate the outdoors and are filled with inspirational quotes – and check out those gorgeous envelopes!

All three of my alternative projects are created with ONE of the cards – I pulled elements from a single lantern card to build all three. Here’s a look at the lantern card before I cut it up to make three cards:

I love the tri-fold cards in this kit, but I needed to break them up to make alternative projects. I cropped the lantern from the front, used the frame on the front and used the panel from the back of the card to make these three cards to share with my customers on the call:

The Front Panel

After I snipped off the lantern from the front panel, I snipped around the panel so it would fit perfectly on the front of another cardfront. I tucked a piece of So Saffron cardstock into a Clear Envelope and wrapped the edges around to seal it flat. I added sequins (I searched the Fungeon high and low for glitter or sequins and found these from Sale-a-Bration a couple of years ago – I don’t keep such things around). They worked perfectly! After I sealed the envelope tightly, I taped it to the back of the cutout panel and adhered the panel to my cardfront with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I tied a piece of twine (from the retired Sale-a-Bration packet for an added accent). Could these sequins and twine been more perfect for this project? The sentiment (included in the coordinating stamp set) is one long statement – I broke it up to create two lines by masking the sentiment I didn’t want stamped with Scotch tape.

The Back Panel

Paper Pumpkin Alternatives, Stampin Up!, Brian King, Let the Adventure BeginThe panel on the inside of this card is a gorgeous nighttime sky with a beautiful tree branch to hold the lantern. I cropped the panel so I could showcase it against a beautiful wood grain panel from In Good Taste Designer Series Paper – this gorgeous paper adds to the woodsy feel of the panel from the Paper Pumpkin Kit. I stamped the sentiment (“Even the darkest night will pass and the sun will rise”) from the After the Storm stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2021 Annual Catalog and cropped it with the Everyday Label Punch. Simple and beautiful.

the Lantern

Paper Pumpkin Alternatives, Stampin Up!, Brian King, Let the Adventure BeginI snipped the lantern off the front panel of the card (simple cut across the bottom of the lantern) so I could feature it on it’s own uplifting card. I stamped these beams of light the After the Storm stamp set (same one I used for the sentiment above) with Bumblebee ink, positioned the lantern and added this sentiment from the Paper Pumpkin Kit. The focal panel and sentiment are cropped with Stitched Rectangles Dies. The adhesive-backed sequins were a part of the Paper Pumpkin Kit.
