New Wonders are Just Around the Corner

After a holiday weekend of Halloween colors, cards and combinations, I’m turning my attention to some gorgeous Fall-themed products from Stampin’ Up!’s July-December 2021 Mini Catalog. Whether you use these products to build your Thanksgiving cards or sympathy cards or cards for any other occasion, you’re going to LOVE the Blackberry Beauty Suite of products. Here’s my card:

Beauty of Tomorrow, Blackberry Beauty Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Blackberry Beauty. If you looked too fast at my card, you may have missed that I pieced together diagonal-cut strips of two pieces of paper to build a fun pattern. If you looked too fast at my card, then you also probably aren’t reading this, so I’ve possibly wasted my words. If you are reading this, then you are smart and beautiful – I adore you. Anyhow…The focal panel on my card started with a 5″ x 3-1/4″ panel of Blackberry Bliss cardstock. I glued down strips of paper from the Blackberry Beauty Specialty Designer Series Paper to build a fun pattern on my card. In face, I only used one pattern from the papers – the front and back of this page. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Blackberry Beauty Specialty Designer Series Paper: Blackberry Beauty Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up! 156458How gorgeous are these pages?! I love all the beautiful flowers and leaves, but these owls are particularly beautiful to me.
  • Beauty of Tomorrow. The sentiment on my card is pulled from one of the sentiments in the Beauty of Tomorrow stamp set. While the sentiment says “the changing of leaves reminds us that new wonders are just around the corner,” I isolated this part of the sentiment (totally inspired by a sample in the catalog) with masking tape. I cropped the sentiment with the ever-popular Everyday Label Punch. The ribbon is such a wonderful addition to this suite of products. • Color Combination. The Blackberry Beauty Specialty Designer Series Paper includes a gorgeous mix of purples, pinks, browns and golds. I absolutely adore the mix of beautiful tones! While Crumb Cake is not one of the listed colors in this pack of papers, the color featured on the owls is a shade mix of Cinnamon Cider and Early Espresso that looks a lot like Crumb Cake. That made it easy for me to reach from this seasonal favorite for the sentiment and base of my card. If you like this mix of Crumb Cake, Polished Pink and Blackberry Bliss as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference: Stampin Up! 1. Beautiful card using this gorgeous paper in interesting ways. Love it! Enjoy your day!

  2. Absolutely beautiful! Love that you brought in crumb cake and cut the dsp at a diagonal.

  3. Beautiful…really like this paper with Crumb Cake! Thanks for inspiration!

    • Thanks, Windy…I thought, for sure, your sentence would end with “purple.” 😀 The Crumb Cake really makes the purples and pinks warmer, doesn’t it? Glad you like it. ♥

  4. GORGEOUS card Brian. The ribbon is OH SO PRETTY and totally makes this card!

  5. Suzanne Patt Cullen

Elegant, Brian! Great job! (as usual) Have a great week!

  6. This is a wonderful card! You used the owl paper perfectly using the irregular strips. It shows off that design so well and the sentiment is perfect. beautiful! I have been staring at this paper for a while trying to figure out how to use the owls and not make it so overwhelmingly “owl”. You gave me great inspiration on how to do this!

    • That’s EXACTLY why I cut this paper into strips – didn’t want someone to feel “swarmed” by owls. 🙂 So happy you like it, Susan! I’ll be making more cards with these strips, I’m sure.

  7. A most unusual card . Elegant in colors and the owls are striking . I like how you coordinated the images . I like the sentiment ,but not too fond of that font .
    Great card !

    • Thank you so much, Sonny! Funny – I really like the whimsy of the sentiment (although it’s a bit difficult to read) because it feels handmade. I had to cut the owls into strips so there wasn’t a parliament of owls on the cardfront. ♥

  8. I see Hogwarts, and now I must have it! You do have a gift of showcasing a paper, stamp image, or die that I didn’t notice before. Oh, and we adore you too!

    • 🙂 Thank you so much, Sheryl! I have never read a Harry Potter book or watched a Harry Potter movie, but I ALSO noted the reference to the Harry Potter stories. How fun! It’s a gorgeous paper, and I’m so glad you like my card. ♥

  9. Thanks for calling me smart, beautiful and adorable! Ha, ha! No I did not miss the gorgeous pattern of the diagonal-cut strips, nor were your words wasted on me. Love this card Brian!
