Be Merry & Bright with Sweet Stockings

I messed up…yesterday’s post that featured coneflowers with the Nature’s Harvest Bundle was still marked as a “draft” when I went to bed the night before. As soon as I realized it wasn’t live, I set it to post – but I want to make sure you caught it. If my boo-boo caused you to miss it, you can see it here.

A simple sketch or fun color combination can really help to get your juices flowing. While I hope to inspire you every day with projects that share fun layouts and colors, I also turn to online challenges for inspiration. Today, I’m sharing a fun card I made with some great products in Stampin’ Up!’s July-December 2021 Mini Catalog and with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge that went live on Wednesday. Here’s my card:

Stars are Shining, Sweet Stockings Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian KingHere’s the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches that inspired my project: FMS502How adorable is the lights-wrapped pup on this card?! While I would be upset with anything or anyone who tangled my Christmas lights, this fella makes me smile – he’s sharing the joy of Christmas, right?! I cut the pup right from the pages of the Sweet Stockings Designer Series Paper and surrounded him with two other prints from this great pack of papers. Here’s a look at the patterns and colors in the Sweet Stockings Designer Series Paper:

Sweet Stockings Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up! 156281These are fun pages, right?! The dog, and the two panels beneath him are pulled from these papers. The stitch-striped panel of Cherry Cobbler paper is cropped with the rounded die in the Basic Borders Dies – the die added a new shape to the card and allowed more of my lights to peek through. In case you missed these dies from Stampin’ Up!’s 2021 Annual Catalog, here’s a look:

Basic Borders Dies, Stampin Up!, 155558The Basic Borders Dies are one of eight new, unbundled dies between pages 162 and 166 that are not bundled with a stamp set (they are only referenced in the first 161 pages of the book). If you’d like to learn more about these unbundled dies, CLICK HERE.

Not only does my card feature three designs from the Sweet Stockings Designer Series Paper, but I added three Old Olive Matte Decorative Dots that coordinate with this suite. The dots have an ombre effect that I love – each one is a different shade of Old Olive. The “Be Merry & Bright” sentiment on my card is pulled from the Stars Are Shining stamp set. I’ve included links to both of these products below if you’d like to look at them in my online store.

Stars are Shining, Sweet Stockings Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThe colors on this card are pulled right from the Sweet Stockings Designer Series Paper. I always loved any mix of blue, green and red – and this one is very special. If you like this combination of Pool Party, Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:
