Be Inspired by Sale-a-Bration (part 2)

Yesterday I shared two cards I made for the Be Inspired Blog Hop (if you missed that post, you can see it here). I don’t often share two cards at once, but I really need to put these two out there. I used the Special Moments stamp set and Hey Sports Fan Designer Series Paper to create both, but each has its own layout and design.

Today I’m going to share a little bit more about both of these cards, including the measurements for each. Let’s start with the two cards I shared yesterday:

Special Moments, Hey Sports Fan Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian King

Hello Sunshine

Here’s the first card I made with the Special Moments stamp set (that can be earned during Sale-a-Bration with a $100 order) and the Hey Sports Fan Designer Series Paper:

Special Moments, Hey Sports Fan Designer Series Paper, Cloud Punch, Stampin Up!, Brian KingI was going to center all of these panels on this card. As the pages sat on my table and shifted a little, I was given a new perspective on how these papers work together. The cloud shape (check out the Cloud Punch in the new catalog or in the links below) gave me a perfect offset to this sunshiny paper (and made the paper even more bright and cheery in the meantime.

Here’s a closer look at the layers of the Hey Sports Fan Designer Series Paper on the right side of this card – all three of these pages are amazing in their own special ways:

Special Moments, Hey Sports Fan Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian KingHere are the measurements of the layering on this card, starting with the base of the card and working my way up to the sentiment:

  • Night of Navy – 4-1/4″ x 11″ (scored at 5-1/2″)
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Thick Very Vanilla – 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″
  • Hey Sports Fan Designer Series Paper (navy wood grain) – 3-3/4″ x 5″
  • Hey Sports Fan Designer Series Paper (navy pinstripes) – 3-3/8″ x 5″
  • Hey Sports Fan Designer Series Paper (yellow sunbursts) – 3″ x 5″
  • Bumblebee – cropped with Layering Circles Dies
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals –
  • Thick Very Vanilla – cropped with Cloud Punch

I’m going to share a secret with you – but please promise you won’t tell anyone. When I was making this card, I pulled Daffodil Delight from my card stash (I was certain this paper featured Daffodil Delight). Assuming the yellows were different because of the distressed look of the paper, I just shrugged it off and kept going. Even though I used Daffodil Delight cardstock for the circle at the heart of the card, I billed it as Bumblebee (because that’s what you should use if you want a perfect card).

Brightening My Day

Here’s a closer look at the second card I shared yesterday, which also showcases the Special Moments stamp set and Hey Sports Fan Designer Series Paper:

Special Moments, Hey Sports Fan Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian KingAgain, I was going to center this layered sentiment on the starry panel, but I changed course as I was assembling the card. The position of this sentiment adds a little interest to the balance of the card, don’t you think? Here’s a closer look at the layers of the Hey Sports Fan Designer Series Paper along the right side of the card:

  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Thick Very Vanilla – 5 x 3-3/4″
  • Hey Sports Fan Designer Series Paper (navy wood grain) – 4-7/8″ x 3-5/8″

Is there anything more uplifting (and brightening) than a yellow page with stars? I love this panel and will be using it a lot

  1. Your cards are stunning. The colours look fabulous together. Thanks for the commentary. So many SU blogs don’t “talk to us” about what’s happening in their lives once they get big. I don’t think they realize what a big connection we can feel when they do.

    • Thank you so much, Beth, for this sweet message. I really appreciate that. This blog is at the heart of whatever success I have achieved, and I’m grateful that anyone wants to hear what I have to say. ♥ I appreciate your comments.

  2. This is such a dapper duo!

  3. I love that you give us your thought process to get to the final edition of your beautiful cards. Great DSP and sentiments. Enjoy your day!

  4. Ha, those yellows! I pull them out and they all look about the same to me. I said something was Bumblebee and later realized I used Crushed Curry but did not correct it. They look too similar to me. 🙂

    • Crushed Curry and Bumblebee are hard for me to distinguish unless they are side-by-side, but Daffodil is way different (and I could see that on my card – I was just too lazy to verify). Thanks, Windy!

  5. I’m loving how you layered the Hey Sports Fan Designer Series Paper on this card. TFS!

  6. Brian thanks so much for this lesson, I agree, these measurements will be fun to try with other papers. Your color choices are spot on, even with the difference in yellows. 😉

  7. Both cards are the kind that would be nice to make a couple extra to keep on hand because they would certainly brighten someone`s day . Also ,I like your DD sun paired with the BB rays !
    Great cards !!
