A Complete History of Stampin’ Up! In Colors (2006 – 2021)

I’m hosting a history lesson today.

Stampin’ Up!’ demonstrators will be downloading Stampin’ Up!’s 2022 Annual Catalog today – while there are so many exciting products to soak in from the new catalog, I most enjoy getting to know the new In Colors.

So many of our favorite Stampin’ Up! colors started as In Colors. In yesterday’s post, I confessed I wasn’t sure if Pacific Point was, at any time, an In Color. That prompted me to do a little research about In Colors – and I’m sharing that with you today. I should have done my research before throwing that out there because (as you are about to see) Pacific Point started as an In Color.

What are In Colors?

Back in 2006, Stampin’ Up! added six colors to its color collection in the Annual Catalog. The In Colors offer colors that are trending in home décor, fashion, design, and crafting. For several years, Stampin’ Up! offered a collection of six In Colors each year. In 2010, the company offered five In Colors and announced that In Colors would be active for two years, alternating between years.

I’ve pulled together graphics of the In Colors from 2006 through the In Colors announced in 2021. What fun! While this will be a walk down memory lane for some, others will be enjoying new colors never seen before.

Here’s a look at each year’s collection of In Colors:

Thank you so much for this history lesson. I have some of the colors dating back to 2006 and didn’t remember they were In Colors. I am working on waterolor swatches of my inks for easy visual reference and your information helped me to better organize my inks. I was surprised how many In Colors are part of our rainbow. I am also surprised with how many retired inks I have but still love (and still work!) Thanks again for your research.

Thank you so much for this! Helped me as I was reorganizing all the old supplies I have!

  3. This is such a fantastic and useful post! And I totally agree 100% that Baja Breeze is the greatest In Color color ever made.

  4. Brian, this is excellent information, thank you.

  5. Thank you for this lovely chart, i started with SU late 2021 so missed out on some of the colours but must say I have found your facts very interesting to read. Will you be updating this with the new In-Colours for the years 2022 onwards?

  6. Thank you for this page. I have all my pads by color but I have found the cases not to be the most reliable way to determine the colors. After YEARS of colors I decided to make swatches. This page allowed me to easily find all the possible colors. I truly appreciate you taking your time to put this together.

  7. I would love so much if they would release information at the end of every year letting us know what the best selling colors were. I am completely obsessed with soft succulent into a slightly lesser degree evening evergreen. My guess is I am not alone.. I cannot imagine these colors ever going away. hoping so much they end up being part of the permanent collection at some point.
