A Sweet Hello for the InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Many of my Stampin’ Up! team members (not only those with blogs) share their gorgeous projects in our team’s Facebook community – there’s such amazing and inspiring creativity in this group! I’m always excited when my team’s blog hop rolls around, though, because I get to share some of their amazing work with you. I’m just as excited to see their projects as you are, and I am proud to share them with you.

05-22 - InKing Royalty Blog Hop - Birds & Bees

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s May Blog Hop! Spring is just around the corner, so we are sharing Spring projects with bees and birds. We are excited to share our creations and hope you love them! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

Hello with Happy Hedgehogs

If you are looking for birds or bees in Stampin’ Up!’s current products, there are many great options. This sweet bird from the Happy Hedgehogs stamp set was a standout to me – he’s gifting you a flower for crying out loud! How sweet and thoughtful! ♥ Here’s my card for today’s blog hop:

Happy Hedgehogs, Inspired Thoughts, Stampin Up!, Brian KingHappy Hedgehogs is an adorable stamp set that makes two appearances on this card – the super-sweet bird is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Thick Basic White, and the background of flowers are stamped with Polished Pink ink on Polished Pink cardstock. While the Happy Hedgehogs Bundle is still an option in Stampin’ Up!’s 2022 Annual Catalog, the stand-alone stamp set is quite adorable. Here’s a look:

Happy Hedgehogs, Stampin Up!, 157983This card is really sweet, despite its rough edges – or, perhaps, it’s because of the rough edges. Three layers on my card are cropped with the new Deckled Rectangles Dies, one of seventeen stand-alone dies in Stampin’ Up!’s 2022 Annual Catalog. Not only are the two Polished Pink panels cropped with large Deckled Rectangles Dies, but the Thick Basic White panel with the bird is cropped with one of the smallest dies. I cropped that same die from Granny Apple Green and Coastal Cabana and added a tiny strip below the Basic White panel.

If you are making a Spring card, you need Spring colors – brilliantly bright or subtly soft. I, obviously, went with the bright tones. If you like this mix of Polished Pink, Coastal Cabana and Granny Apple Green as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:

The deckled rectangles were the first things I ordered from the new catalog! Love the clean but β€œrough” look they create.

  8. You rocked the color combo. And I totally agree that the little birdie is sweet. Deckled Rectangle dies – got ’em and I am having some fun with ’em.

    • Thanks, Ann! With so many birds and bees (and butterflies) to choose from, it was hard to pick one. I hadn’t inked up this bird before this card, so it made sense to showcase him here. β™₯ Glad you like it!

  9. Your color combo really sets the stage for HAPPY.

    • Thank you so much, Kadie! The bright colors felt very “Spring” to me – and that usually translates to “happy.” Glad you like it! β™₯

  11. Brian, great color choices and I would never have tried those, but I love it. I really like the deckled edge dies and have been going back and forth, but you have convinced me and they will be on my next order! Thanks!!!

  12. I don’t respond to your postings enough, but you are ALWAYS an inspiration Brian with your postings and helpful hints and ideas, of mixing colors etc. This card is so Simple but so CUTE and thoughtful to send to someone.

  13. Brian your Birds & Bees Hop was fun, your group came up with great ideas. It’s so funny how we miss so much the first several times we look at the new catalog. These deco edge rectangles were hidden in plain sight, and the Happy Hedgehog has the best sentiments!

    • Thanks so much, Katrina! I always love tabbing through the hops – I’m always amazed by the projects. There are SO MANY amazing stand-alone dies in this catalog – and nearly every one of them is incredible. Thanks! β™₯

    Brian,
The Deckled Rectangles look like a “must-have” …πŸ˜‰
They remind me of when we used to tear the edges … these are much better than tearing if you tend to be a perfectionist (just sayin’). Your color combo is one of my favorite combinations, too! Thank you, dear!

    • Thank you so much, Suzie! The dies are INCREDIBLE! I agree – it’s torn edges without tearing them. πŸ™‚ So glad you like the card! β™₯

  15. Adorable, sweet, and stunning at the same time! Love it, B!

  16. That little birdie is the cutest thing! I totally overlooked it. The flowered background shows it off perfectly!

    • πŸ™‚ Thanks, Robin! I had other plans for this hop, but I couldn’t NOT showcase this sweet bird. πŸ™‚ Appreciate your comments! β™₯

  17. β€œDecked out” beautifully! Adorable card with such bright happy colors!

  18. Sheryl Abernathy

  19. Lovely card with the bird snd I love seeing your close up of the deckled dies.. they are definitely in my list but nice to see the detail you get with them.

    • Thank you so much, Alaine! I was excited about these rectangle dies, but I love them even more in person. Appreciate hearing from you! β™₯

brian really like the cute card. I am inquiring about the background stamp.
What set is it from or is it a background stamp? Could be used for so many
    cards.
