Christmas in July Stamping with Mom

I was able to make an impromptu, weekend trip to visit Mom in South Carolina this past weekend. It was a quick visit, so I packed a change of clothes, toiletries and (of course) a Stampin’ Up! kit. With some down time on Sunday, Mom and I put together the collection of Christmas tags in the Love, Santa Tag Kit. This kit has been available for a while as a part of Stampin’ Up!’s Kit Collection, but I never realized how cute these tags are!

I’m going to share our finished projects (we followed the kit instructions very closely) and some tips for completing this fun kit. Let’s start, though, with the items that come in the kit:

Love Santa Tag Kit, Stampin Up!, 158375The pre-printed elements in this kit are adorable and festive. The stamp set (shown in the top, right corner) is a great one! The kit is only $19 in the U.S. – the stamp set is worth every penny of that by itself. The other elements, Stampin’ Spot and cardboard box can be considered amazing bonuses. πŸ™‚ Here’s a look at the photopolymer stamp set that came with the kit:

TIP ONE: Before you start punching and stamping and assembling, read the instructions and study the stamp set (if you wish to switch out one of the sentiments or elements, you’ll wan to plan before you start stamping).

Love, Santa Tag Kit, Stampin Up!, Brian KingTIP TWO: Think ahead. If you wish to add the “to” and “from” stamp to the backs of these tags, stamp the words before you build up the front of the image. It will be more difficult to stamp on the back when the front has popped-up elements and rhinestones.  Don’t ask me how I came to learn this. Here are the backs of the Christmas tree tags before the fronts were embellished:

The twine can be cut with the ruler provided in the instructions or along a piece of grid paper. This helper was very happy to precisely measure the twine for the tags.

Love, Santa Tag Kit, Stampin Up!, Brian KingTIP FOUR:  It was super-easy to toss the kit into my travel bag – and I had nearly everything I needed. Thinking ahead, I grabbed glue, a couple of extra blocks and a full-sized Night of Navy ink pad. I didn’t grab my Take Your Pick Tool or tweezers. They would have come in handy for these little pieces, but I was able to complete the projects with the tools I had available.

Love, Santa Tag Kit, Stampin Up!, Brian KingTIP FIVE: Sometimes the woman you hire to cut the baker’s twine can double as a model for the finished tags.  How cute is she?!

Love, Santa Tag Kit, Stampin Up!, Brian KingAfter a short time playing with the kit, Mom has twelve cute tags for her Christmas gifts. Here’s a look at the tags we completed with the Love, Santa Tag Kit:

Mom and I enjoyed putting together these tags, and I’ve enjoyed sharing them with you today. We both kept talking about how cute all of the tags are and how awesome the kit is – especially for just $19. Mom will be happy to add these tags to her holiday gifts this year.

  1. What a beautiful model!!!!! She needs to be a permanent modeler.

  2. I’ll have to get these tags done now! I bought the kit cause they’re so cute, but never got them done… I may not follow instructions, I think they might be super cute on a card front! Maybe a fancy fold one!

    • I know these could be made into some great cards and 3-D projects, but I didn’t have time to pack up everything in my craft room for the trip. πŸ˜€ Glad you like them, Alaine!

    • If we were at my house, we likely would have turned some of them into cards, but I didn’t have a chance to pack up my entire craft room (just in case) to make something other than the tags. She’ll use the tags, though. Thanks, Wendie!
