Merry Christmas with a Shiny Reindeer

If you made an unannounced visit to the Fungeon (that’s my basement craft room), you might find a couple of unfinished projects sitting around or a collection of products I want to use together. These project ideas “marinade” over time until they come together in a finished project that I share with you. A couple of weeks ago I punched a sweet reindeer from gold glimmer paper – it’s been sitting on a gold-and-black page, waiting for me to pull together the rest of the pieces and make it into a card. Well, here is is:

Christmas to Remember, Deer Builder Punch, Stampin Up!, Brian KingI will stand by my distaste for glitter – it’s nothing by a pile of small, shiny speckles that wants to ruin your life. That doesn’t mean I don’t like shiny things – and Stampin’ Up!’s no-shed (those are my words) Glimmer Paper earns my seal of approval. Approved! Not one loose speck when I punched this reindeer with my Deer Builder Punch. Here’s a look a the punch:

Deer Builder Punch, StampinUp! 156390The gold glimmer paper is  part of the Glimmer 12″ x 12″ Specialty Paper that’s part of the Lights Aglow Suite (page 31) in Stampin’ Up!’s July-December 2022 Mini Catalog. The pack includes 6 glimmer pages (two gold, two Very Vanilla and two Evening Evergreen). All three of these colors coordinating with the Lights Aglow 6″ x 6″ Specialty Designer Series Paper, which serves as the gorgeous backdrop for my flying reindeer. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this pack of papers:

Lights Aglow Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian King 159535I was planning to center my reindeer over a popped up vellum circle – it’s a go-to trick for me. When I set that vellum circle on my black sky, though, I immediately saw the circle as a moon. I simply offset the two in the center of the card, making the circle an important actor in my card. Here’s a closer look:

  10. I looked at the photo and thought Brian – Glitter – nah couldn’t be. Who beamed you up or beaned your head and made you senseless? Then, I had to read and laugh! Glimmer paper – I think they should have named it Brian’s glimmer paper as it is made for you! I bought some of this but have not used it yet to see if it does not really shed any bits. So, I will take your word for it. Mary Fish actually made a card a few years ago with a glittery deer on black and white or maybe it was just a gold color or even embossed. I, had to try it, I decided to use gold glitter embossing powder since I couldn’t find my regular gold EP. Man, one of those reindeer surfaced in a pile of cards and stuff and I still ended up with a few flecks of glitter on my hands, shirt, and face. The card was actually great but messy. Maybe I will remake it trying the glimmer paper this time. At least Teddy didn’t touch it with his nose as I am sure he would have gotten some glitter on his nose forever! Thanks for some ideas using this punch.
