Paper Pumpkin Alternatives – Sweet Sunflowers

I hosted my monthly Zoom call with my Paper Pumpkin customers yesterday. During our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call, I share some fun ideas with the items included in the monthly kit, and my customers share their brilliant ideas. It’s always such fun to see what others are making and to spend that time with my customers who participate. I love this time to connect with my customers.

Pumpkin in the Fungeon, Brian KingToday I’m sharing some alternative projects with this last month’s Sweet Sunflowers kit – a gorgeous collection cards themed around beautiful sunflowers. The colors, images and elements in this month’s kit are AMAZING! Here’s a look at the finished projects from the August 2022 Paper Pumpkin kit:

Alternative Projects

I designed five projects to share with my customers during our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call – I’m sharing three of them with you today. What fun!

Here’s a look at three of my alternative projects with this kit:

One-of-a-Kind Friend

Each of the envelopes that accompany the cards in this Sweet Sunflowers Paper Pumpkin Kit is a piece of art. You can see them in the bottom, right corner of the photo with all the elements of the kit (or the left side of the photo with the completed samples). I disassembled one of the beautiful envelopes and cropped the front with hexagons from the Beautiful Shapes Dies in Stampin’ Up!’s 2022 Annual Catalog. I mounted those on a cropped background panel from one of the note cards in the kit to make this:

I layered this panel with Night of Navy cardstock and Mossy Meadow Cardstock to frame this panel with coordinating colors. I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set on the back of the envelope, cropped it with a circle die and layered it on the card. It’s simple, but I love that the beautiful flowers and colors shine through on this simple design.

Thank You

The beautiful sunflowers in the kit layer over gorgeous flowers and leaves – the designs couldn’t be more beautiful. To concentrate the flowers into one area, I cropped on the of the note card panels with a square die from the Stylish Shapes Dies and framed it with Crushed Curry cardstock. I layered die-cut flowers behind my stamped flower and a “thank you” sentiment under the flower. I colored two of the vellum honeycomb patterns with a Dark So Saffron Stampin’ Blends marker and popped them out of each side of the design. I mounted the square design on the Mossy Meadow watercolored card. Here’s my card:

I stamped the flower with Crushed Curry and Early Espresso ink and stamped the sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I think the flowers on this background are more beautiful when concentrated a bit on the card.

So Much Happiness

The back of the note card I showcased above features a beautiful, watercolored panel with pink and yellow. Since I had removed the flowers from the front panel, I knew I needed to put the back panel to good use. I settled on an idea that didn’t fit with the sunflowers theme, but the colors and design were just what I wanted to make these sweet tags:

I cropped tags with the Tailor Made Tags Dies and added elements from the Bough Punch and Decorated Pine Dies. I flipped two tags over to the white side and stamped the sentiment that worked so well with a Christmas theme. The candy canes are stamped with the Sweet Candy Canes stamp set and cropped with the coordinating Candy Canes Dies. While the watercolored background features Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry tones, a Polished Pink candy cane coordinated best with the soft tones. Here’s a look at this must-have bundle:
