Have a Sweet Christmas

I adore a sweet-and-simple card – and the right papers make simple cards so easy to make. The sweet colors and patterns in the Sweetest Christmas Designer Series Paper make card-making so easy. Here’s a card I made with two sweet patterns from this paper:

Sweetest Christmas Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian King 159559The main panel of my card is a 4-3/4″ x 3-1/2″ panel of candy cane stripes – a classic image for this time of year. I added three 1/2″ strips of small candy canes to build a band across the main panel and to bring your eye right to the sentiment. “Have a sweet Christmas” – I love the saying and the style of the sentiment from the Sweet Gingerbread Bundle. Here’s a look at this fun bundle:

I heat-embossed the sentiment on Real Red cardstock with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and then cropped it with the oval frame from the Fabulous Frames Dies – the frame is sitting on my desk, awaiting inspiration for another project.

Real Red is a great color for Christmas – it pairs well with all greens for a festive green-and-red combination. A monochromatic card with Real Red and Basic White is also very festive. I play with the idea of adding other colors to this card, but I love the all-red-and-white look too much to change it. I added three Opal Rounds for a subtle texture and added shine.
