I’m Here for You with Rain or Shine

I’m excited to share the card I’ve made for today’s blog post. The card came together so quickly with a few amazing Designer Series Paper pages, a couple of dies and a little ink. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Here’s the “I’m here for you” card I’m happy to share with you today:

Rain or Shine Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian KingIf you haven’t yet taken a serious look at the Rain or Shine Suite of products in Stampin’ Up!’s January-April 2023 Mini Catalog, I hope you’ll take another look. The critters are adorable, the sentiments are great and the elements in dies are wonderful. The papers, though, bring it all together. Click on the image below if you’d like to see all of the products in the Rain or Shine Suite:

Rain or Shine Suite, Stampin Up!, Brian KingIt’s the Rain or Shine Designer Series Paper that made this card so easy to build. The colors are vibrant, the images are uplifting – and there’s a splash of UV coating on many of the pages to give the elements (like the turtle’s shell and the flower in his hand) a fun shine. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Rain or Shine Specialty Designer Series Paper:

Rain or Shine Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up! 160540The background on my card is the third page on the top row of the papers shown above. The turtle on my card is cropped from the first page with the Playing in the Rain Dies, also part of this beautifully-coordinated suite. Here’s a closer look at the turtle on my card:

Rain or Shine Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian KingI cropped an oval with the Framed Florets Dies (it’s the inside of the die that creates a striped frame) and added a mist of Balmy Blue with a Blending Brush. The sentiment is pulled from the Silly Goose stamp set (I KNEW I’d be using that set a lot). This is the page from which I cropped the flower-presenting turtle on my card:

Rain or Shine Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!The Playing in the Rain Dies coordinate with the images on this page, which made it so easy for me to build the card I’ve shared. In total, you can crop 10 bunnies, 6 turtles and 6 foxes from a pack of paper. But why stop there? The little turtle at the bottom of the page or along the left side might not be a full image, but he’d look adorable peeking through a cropped circle or just popping up along the base of a card.

While I didn’t use the Playing in the Rain stamp set on this card (didn’t really need to), but I used the Playing in the Rain Dies to crop the adorable turtle. Here’s a look at the Playing in the Rain Bundle, which includes the Playing in the Rain cling stamp set and coordinating Playing in the Rain Dies:

Playing in the Rain Bundle, Stampin Up!, 160551Two more things to note: (1) I added a 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ piece of the Country Floral Lane Designer Series Paper behind my turles-and-flowers panel (a perfect addition) and (2) not only did I crop the background from the full page of flowers and a cloud-filled sky, but I added a piece of the sky to the envelope flap. Here’s a look:

Rain or Shine Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian KingCould that envelope and card be more perfectly coordinated? I’m in love with the mix of Mango Melody, Balmy Blue and Old Olive on these pages of the Rain or Shine Specialty Designer Series Paper. If you love these colors as much as I do,  hope you’ll save this for future reference:

  5. I am still a little slow on doing things but have a hard shell that is hard to crack so I should be full of puns and wittiness in the near future. I had to take a moment to smile and tell you I love this card. I really do! Turtles are fun unless they are real life snapping ones that my big brother captured at our house when I was little. Well, I am still short but I was really young and had to stand on my tip toes to look into the box my brother captured the big guy in. Man, he snapped at flies, leaves, anything close to him. Finally, some people came and got him and released him back into the Mississippi River. We lived 7 blocks from the river at that time. How it maneuvered up the 23 steps to the house, I have no idea. Anyway, I still love this card with the cute turtle. I think I can CASE this since by fussy cutting the turtle maybe. I have been slow to order the bundle but do have papers from a share. I have a friend who has had a hard start to the new year and I think she would like this little surprise in the mail. It is toadly (oops wrong critter) a card I would make and send! Thanks for letting me tell my story. I have another one about a turtle pinata I made one time but that can wait. So glad to see Frenchie comment, John must be doing better. I know I am better with just some residual nasal goop that makes me cough when laying down. Maybe I will work on a card or two.

    • I’m SO HAPPY you commented, Chris. I knew I’d hear from you because turtles are a great target for a good pun. ♥ We also grew up with lots of family animals – some for a long time and some for a short time. Such great memories.

  6. Can’t believe how realistic that DSP looks! Awesome card!
