In the Country with Soft Pastels

Stampin’ Up!’s Sale-a-Bration is in full force – before you know it, it will be gone. With so many great products to earn during Sale-a-Bration, there’s no reason to NOT place your order today. ♥ Today I’m sharing a simple, layered card I made with the In the Country stamp set, one of the Level 1 items you can select with a $50 purchase during Sale-a-Bration. Here’s the card I’ve made to share with you today:

In the Country, Soft Pastels Assortment, Stampin Up!, Brian King

In the Country is not a stamp set I’d normally be drawn to because I like bold lines and vivid images, but there are some great ways to showcase this stamp set. When I came across my Soft Pastels Assortment while organizing over the weekend, I was excited to ink up this set. So glad I did! I liked the finished result so much that I opted to NOT include a sentiment on the outside of the card (which doesn’t often happen for me).

Here’s a look at the In the Country stamp set, a Sale-a-Bration option through the end of February:

In the Country, Stampin Up! 160828The  Soft Pastels Assortment includes Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Gorgeous Grape, Mango Melody, Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy and Poppy Parade chalk pastels. Here’s a look at the under-used Soft Pastels from Stampin’ Up!’s 2022 Annual Catalog:

The Soft Pastels Assortment includes chalk pastels that can be paired with Stampin’ Up!’s Sponge Daubers, Blending Brushes, and Water Painters for an artistic look. I stamped the image with VersaMark and swiped the Mossy Meadow soft pastel across the paper, allowing the sticky VersaMark to pick up more of the chalk. I used a Sponge Dauber to blend the chalk into the Thick Very Vanilla around the edges of the paper. So easy!

A simple image deserves many layers of cardstock. That should be a rule! If you like this mix of Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake and Mossy Meadow as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:

  5. Lovely card and a great idea for the background!

  6. Beautiful card that illustrates how less can be more. The card colors and layers are just perfect as is the subtly colored background and finely etched stamp art.

  7. WOW…I would never have thought to use the chalks to do this, but it is perfect! It’s a mini version of what we might see in an art gallery. So soft, so pretty. If I’m understanding correctly, you stamped in Versamark, then did not use embossing powder? You just swiped the chalks over the Versamark. Brilliant! This is why you are “the king”.

  8. Your card is very pretty. I love your awesome coloring with chalks. Enjoy your day!
