Good Tidings in This Season of Cheer

The weather in Atlanta has taken a quick turn from warm and hot to cold and rainy. Fall is here, but I suspect Winter is not far behind. This weather puts me in the mood to make Christmas cards, so I’ve made one for you today. Today I’m sharing a fun card that showcases one of my favorite stamp sets, some gorgeous paper and an all-occasion punch. Does it get any better than that? Here’s the card I made to share with you today:

Joy to You, Garden Walk Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian King, Christmas card

The Poppy Parade base of this card doesn’t flip open – it’s just a quarter sheet of the colorful cardstock. The white panel on the front is a 3-1/2″ x 9-1/2″ piece of Thick Basic White cardstock that’s scored at 4-3/4″. It’s that piece that opens up for the sentiment inside. It might be more difficult to showcase this card on a mantle, but it’s certain to be remembered and loved. Here’s how this card opens up:

The sentiments on the front and inside of this card are stamped with Poppy Parade ink using the Joy to You stamp set, new in Stampin’ Up!’s 2023 Holiday Mini Catalog I LOVE this set – not only can you build big sentiments on your projects, but you can isolate select pieces of the stamps to build different sentiments. Here’s a look at the Joy to You stamp set:

Joy to You, Stampin Up!, 162090The “Good Tidings” sentiment is cropped with the Modern Oval Punch and showcased on a gorgeous design from the Garden Walk 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. There are gorgeous patterns in this pack of papers that go from Christmas to Spring. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Garden Walk 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper:

Garden Walk Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up! 162227I added a Poppy Parade piece of the Brights 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper to my card for a little additional brightness. That one panel really changed the look of my card – it’s a little detail on my card, but it made a big difference.

The sentiment on the front of my card is punched with the Modern Oval Punch, part of the Modern Garden Bundle that coordinates with the Modern Garden Bundle. Here’s a look at this versatile bundle:

  1. Looks gorgeous with the bold sentiment.

  2. Loving that different opening ! Thank you for the measurements because I think I might be casing your design !!!
A really different Christmas card and I like it !!

    • Thanks so much, Sonny! This is such a small twist on a card opening – such a small change that makes a big difference. Always love to hear from you! ♥

    Brian,
Such a bright and cheery card … ⭐️⭐️⭐️
    Have a great weekend!

  4. I love this card design with a layer of DSP behind the card. The bold sentiments are fun. Enjoy your day!

  5. Great layout and love the colors!

  6. “Poppying” in (note nod to the Poppy Parade color) to say what a bright, cheerful and interesting card. First, the layout is perfect for people in the hospital or nursing homes who have a bulletin board in their room. Not enough space to put regular folded cards on the bedside table. A quick pin up and people can interact with the card and not worry about tearing it or knocking it down. The eye popping colors are a bright spot to a otherwise drab room. The sentiment provides it’s own punch power with the punch and the bold wording. It has lots of interest with the layers but not too bulky to mail. What a win-win situation for a winter card where snow is maybe scarce. The cropped bold sentiment on the front is easily seen from the bed. Love this card! Planning on looking for retired bright and cheery DSP to make a zillion of these! Heck, you could add a little loop on the back and hang it in some boughs of holly and pine for a festive look also for those of us who don’t have a mantle!

    • So happy to hear from you, Chris, and hope you are doing well. Thanks for the important feedback – while I pointed out how it won’t display on a mantle, you remind me that there are great benefits to this layout. So glad you like it! ♥

  7. It’s a beautiful card, and I really like how just the top part opens, instead of the entire card.

  8. Bright Bold and Beautiful!
