Be Inspired by the Sweet Holidays

It’s time for another Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop – what fun! The Be Inspired Design Team is a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from all over the world who are excited to share our themed projects with you. I’m so honored to be a part of this group of talented stampers!

For today’s Be Inspired Blog Hop, we are creating projects inspired by the Holidays. I’m focusing on one of the sweetest parts of the Holiday Season – Christmas tree snack cakes. Mmmmm. I hope you love what I’ve made. If you aren’t starting the hop here, then you probably just popped over from the project shared by my talented friend Janneke Dijkstra-de Jong.

Sweet Friend

We know Easter is here when peanut butter eggs show up in every grocery store checkout. We know when Fall has arrived when Pumpkin Spice is stocked up at our favorite coffee shop. I know it’s Christmas time when Little Debbie Christmas tree snack cakes appear in the grocery store. These snack cakes have been a big topic of conversation lately (I learned my Canadian friend had never heard of Little Debbie Snack Cakes). If you know what I’m talking about, though, this this card will feel like the Holidays to you:

For those who have no idea what they are looking at on my card, here’s a promotional photo of the Christmas tree cakes from the Little Debbie website:

I created my Christmas tree snack cakes with the Merriest Trees Dies and a couple of techniques I want to share with you. First, here’s a look at the Merriest Trees Bundle:

Merriest Trees Bundle, Stampin Up! 162048The Merriest Trees stamp set and coordinating dies will be available after the September-December 2023 Mini Catalog retires, but the bundled pricing ends when the catalog ends. If you love this bundle as much as I do, I hope you’ll take another look!

Before I cropped my trees from Thick Basic White cardstock with the second largest Merriest Trees Dies tree, I covered my cardstock with packing tape to give the trees a faux-embossed shine, similar to the waxy glow of the delicious snack cakes (that doesn’t sound appealing, but if you know, then you know). Here’s a look at the shine on the trees:

I layered my trees on a Foam Adhesive Sheets (also cut with the same die) to give them a little thickness. I piped the trees with Real Red cardstock and added sprinkled the cakes with Granny Apple Green and Lemon Lime Twist sugar sprinkles. To create the sprinkles, I cut the same bands used to make the red garland and then snipped the circles away from the string that runs between. Such fun!

The sentiment on my card is pulled from a stamp set I’ve owned for a while but have not inked up until now. “Hi, sweet friend” is a perfect welcome to these seasonal snack cakes that tell me the Holidays are here. The saying is pulled from the By My Side stamp set. The page of Designer Series Paper behind my focal panel is pulled from the Stargazing Designer Series Paper, found in the 2023 Annual Catalog. These pages aren’t decidedly Christmas-y, but several patterns can be used this time of year. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this pack of papers:

If you like the mix of Lemon Lime Twist, Granny Apple Green and Real Red as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:
