Paper Pumpkin Alternative – Warm Wishes

I hosted my monthly Zoom call with my Paper Pumpkin customers yesterday. During our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call, I share some fun ideas with the items included in the monthly kit, and my customers share their brilliant ideas. I’m always impressed by what others are making and love to spend that time with my customers who participate. Sometimes we rush through our projects and then just chat for the rest of the time.

Pumpkin in the Fungeon, Brian KingToday I’m sharing one of the alternative projects I shared with November’s Warm Wishes Kit – a sweet collection of treat boxes made from houses that are decorated for the Holidays. The kit includes eight treat boxes, the coordinating bags and lots of Christmas goodness. Before I share one of my alternative project, here’s a look at the finished projects (as designed) from the November 2023 Paper Pumpkin kit:

Alternative Project

I completed a couple of treat boxes as designed from this kit – and they are adorable. All of the participants in the call also built their kits as designed. Still, there have to be alternative ideas for how to use the products in this kit, right?

I created a fun hinge card with one of the houses in the kit and showcased some other festive products at the same time. Here’s my alternative card:

I cropped the house right out of the treat box template by … wait for it … cropping the crease along the bottom of the box. So difficult! I didn’t realize (until I cut it) just how big this house is – it fills the front of a card, so I decided to get creative and build a hinge to hold the house.

I started with a Thick Basic White base (7″ x 5-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″). I added a Balmy Blue panel with snowflakes to the front tab and a basic white panel inside. before gluing the panel to the inside of the card, I cut a hinge (3″ x 3-1/2″ scored at 3/4″) and glued it behind the panel. Once the hinge was positioned, I added the house to the front.

The front panel of the card is festooned with a panel of Balmy Blue snowflakes from the A Walk in the Forest Designer Series Paper. What fun! Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this gorgeous pack of papers:
