Flying By with a Little Note

I couldn’t effectively fold a paper plane today if you paid me, but I certainly remember when a paper plane was the best way to pass a note in class. We thought the teacher didn’t know we were passing notes, but each and every teacher knew. 🙂 I made a quick-and-simple, note card-sized card with a paper plane and sweet sentiment to share with you today. Here’s my card:

The paper plane that is the focus of this card is pulled from the adorable Flying By stamp set, new in Stampin’ Up!’s 2024 Annual Catalog. I stamped my plane with Memento Tuxedo Black and cut it out with my paper snips. So simple, so cute. Here’s a look at the Flying By stamp set:

I added a little sentiment from a more sophisticated stamp set, Penciled Pear. The fun font, though, worked well with my paper plane design. Here’s a look at Penciled Pear, also new in the 2024 Annual Catalog:

I added these images to a 1-1/4″ band over a Balmy Blue design from the Subtles Designer Series Paper. I framed the focal panel (which measures 2-3/4″ x 4-1/2″) with a thin border of Basic White, then Balmy Blue, then Basic white. Each layer is 1/8″ wider and longer than the last. The simple frames around the focal point helped me to “class it up” a bit. So simple. The base of my card is 3-1/2″ x 10″ (scored at 5″), perfect for a note card envelope.

I added three Balmy Blue Rainbow Adhesive-Backed Dots around the sentiment for a little extra charm.
