A Little Hocus Pocus with the Potions & Spells Bundle

I adore the fun side of Halloween – I’m not into gore and can’t stand to be frightened. I love to express the childlike fun of Halloween in a card – especially when I can use pretty colors to make a sweet card. When the Potions & Spells Bundle arrived at my house, I was excited to play. Here’s a card I made with the new Potions & Spells Bundle, available in the Online Exclusives that were introduced to us last week:

Potions & Spells Bundle, Stampin Up!, Brian King, Halloween cardThe witch’s cauldron and sentiment on my card are pulled from the Potions & Spells Bundle – and they aren’t even the most exciting elements of the set (so you can bet you’ll see more of this set from me in the coming weeks). I love the books, the cat, the bottles and the other sentiments. Such fun! Here’s a look at the Potions & Spells Bundle (now available):

Potions & Spells Bundle, Stampin Up!, 164357While the Potions & Spells stamp set features bubbly bubbles that fit perfectly over the cauldron, I have been looking for another fun way to showcase the bubbles in the Simply Sparkling Dies (another Online Exclusives offering that’s still available). Here’s a look at this fun bundle:

Don’t the bubbles look great with the cauldron?

I embossed the cauldron with white embossing powder on Basic Black cardstock, and I embossed the sentiment with black embossing powder on Pumpkin Pie cardstock. I love these new embossing powders and am so happy to have in-stock so I can play with embossing powders again. Here’s a look at the Basics Wow! Embossing Powders (I’ve included a link to the metallics option in my links at the base of the post):

Basics Wow! Embossing Powder, Stampin Up!, 165679The circle pattern in the Pumpkin Pie 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper gave me a fun play on the focus of the card. The Highland Heather striped page helped me to lighten the card with a soft color that still looks so Halloween-y when paired with orange and black. If you like this mix of Highland Heather, Pumpkin Pie and Basic Black as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:

Stampin Up! Color Inspiration - Highland Heather, Pumpkin Pie, Basic BlackThree black Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems are a perfect accents on this spooky (but still cute) card. A little shine never hurt anyone.

  1. Adorable . . . but the bubbles send me over the moon!

  2. I agree with Mary Fish. Your use of the bubbles from Simply Sparkling is a perfect choice. Simpler is MUCH better in this case! Plus TEXTURE! Plus, as always, you’re rockin’ the colors and layers. Sunday <3

  3. This is adorable! Love the added bubbles! Such a fun set!
