It’s time for another Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop – what fun! The Be Inspired Design Team is a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from all over the world who are excited to share our themed projects with you. I’m so honored to be a part of this group of talented stampers!
For today’s Be Inspired Blog Hop, we are creating projects inspired by the heat embossing – I haven’t seen the projects from the other participants, but I know you are in for a variety of great cards and some fun techniques. The Be Inspired Design Team and I are excited to share what we’ve made!
If you aren’t starting the hop here, then you probably just popped over from the project shared by my friend Janneke Dkjkstra de Jong. I’m happy you are here.
Wicked Fun
The project I’m sharing with you today is inspired by two things: heat embossing (that’s a given!) and the Broadway musical (and upcoming movie) Wicked. If you have ever seen Wicked or listened to the incredible soundtrack, then you will immediately understand and feel the card I have made to share with you today:
Wicked is a brilliant prequel to The Wizard of Oz that tells the origin stories of Glinda (the Good Witch) and Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West). Throughout the book, musical and movie, Glinda is showcased in pink, poofy dresses and light-filled elegance, while Elphaba is haunted by her green skin and the black, pointy hat that was gifted to her. I really wanted to pay tribute to Wicked with this card– and I was happy to have all of the products I needed to make it.
Here’s a closer look at the designs on the 2″ x 5″ panels on my card:
The Pink Panel. I used white embossing powder to heat emboss these soft flowers from the Layers of Beauty stamp set on a panel of Pretty in Pink cardstock. After I set the embossing powder on the panel with my Heat Tool, I used a Blending Brush to add more Pretty in Pink ink, starting and the base and fading upward. Here’s a look at the Layers of Beauty Bundle:
The Green Panel. I used black embossing powder to heat emboss witch hats or spikes from the Frozen Edges stamp set (I stamped the icicles upside down to create this fun image) on Granny Apple Green cardstock. How fun is that?! Here’s a look at this fun bundle:
The sentiment on my card is head embossed with black embossing powder (more heat embossing for today’s hop) with isolated words from the Halloween Memories stamp set, which was released as a part of the Scrapbooking Catalog that was released with the Holiday Mini. How fun that I had the words I needed in this fun stamp set! Here’s a look at the Halloween Memories stamp set:
I accented my project with six Adhesive-Backed Sparkle Gems (three black gems on the green panel and three silver gems on the pink panel).
If you know and love Wicked like I do, then I know you are excited for the upcoming movie. You likely won’t make cards to celebrate the release of the movie, but WHY NOT!? I hope today’s project inspires you to make something fun and exciting.
I hope you like my project today! I hope you’ll continue the Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop to see more projects by my talented friends – I know you’ll love them. The next stop is my super-talented friend, Emma Goddard. I know you’re going to love what she’s made! Click on the banner below to continue through the hop:
I hope you’ll hop through the rest of the projects in this lineup. In case you get off-track at any point during the hop, here’s a listing of all the participants in this hop:
