Brian’s Week in Review: November 3, 2024

Brian's Week in ReviewIt’s Sunday – and that means it’s time to take a look back at the past week in my Week in Review post. In today’s post, I want to share a quick rundown of the week (for those who don’t follow me every day) and a little extra background (for those who already tune in daily).

The air is cooler, the leaves are falling and new products are launching in the Online Exclusives. It’s going to be a busy, wonderful week. Before we look forward, let’s take a quick look back.

Monday

I love the Pumpkin in the Fungeon calls I host with my Paper Pumpkin subscribers. Participants always show up with amazing alternative projects they’ve made with the kit (even when they warn me they haven’t had a lot of time to play). 🙂 On Monday, I shared two of the alternatives projects I made with some of the products (and some of the leftovers) from October’s Nests of Christmas kit. Here’s a quick look at these projects:

Tuesday

On Tuesday, I reached into my 2024 Holiday Mini Catalog to make a sweet snow globe with the Snow Wonder Bundle and coordinating Snowy Scenes Designer Series Paper. Here’s the card I shared:

Snowy Wonder Bundle, Stampin Up!, Brian Kingthe snow globe and base were cropped from the Snowy Scenes Designer Series Paper with the coordinating Dies. Easy! I stamped and added a different penguin and tree to add a little dimension to the snow globe. I really love the combination of Garden Green and Pool Party, so I already loved the snowflake pattern and image on the card.

Wednesday

This past Wednesday was the last Wednesday of the month, which meant it was time for a Be Inspired Blog Hop. For this hop, we were inspired by Heat Embossing. This challenge gave me the opportunity to make a Wicked-themed card I’ve been thinking about for a while. Here’s the card I made:

Wicked Fun Halloween card, Stampin Up, Brian KingIf you aren’t familiar with the Wicked musical or the upcoming movie, do a little research – it’s soon going to be everywhere. Everywhere. I’ve seen Wicked on Broadway three times and know every word of the soundtrack – safe to same I’m excited about the movie.

I was most excited about how the inverted icicles gave me spiky witch hats for this card – such fun! If you want to read more about this project (and hop along to see the other projects), CLICK HERE.

Thursday

In case you missed it, Thursday was Halloween. After 13 years of sitting by the front door with candy and having no trick-or-treaters, we decided to watch a movie and turn in early Thursday night. I thought I might regret it on Friday, but I haven’t looked back. Great decision! AND we don’t have a huge bowl of candy to avoid. 🙂

Along with reminders of the promotions that ended on Thursday, I shared 10 great color combinations for Halloween. Here’s my favorite:

Friday

On Friday, Emma and I launched our next Super-Awesome Fun Time Card Kit. This kit includes a bundle from the upcoming Online Exclusives launch – and I can’t wait to share these projects with the participants.

We are centering this kit around a new bundle that includes a stamp set, hybrid embossing folder and dies. Here’s a look at the Happy Hibiscus Bundle:

Saturday

Yesterday I shared a card I made with another product from the upcoming Online Exclusives launch. Here’s the card I made with the Classic Wedding Bundle:

As I promised in yesterday’s post, I’m sharing the measurements for the layers on this card today. Here are the layer measurements, starting from the card base and working up to the top:

  • Basic Gray – 4-1/4″ x 11″ (scored at 2-3/4″and 8-1/4″)
  • Basic White – 4″ x 5-1/4″ for inside
  • Basic White – 4″ x 2-1/2″ (x2)
  • Country Lace Designer Series Paper – 3-7/8″ x 2-3/8″ (x2)
  • Basic White – 3-1/8″ x 3-5/8″
  • Basic Gray – 3″ x 3-1/2″

The card and elements are cropped with Thick Back White, Silver Foil Sheets and Real Red. The sentiment is stamped on Basic White and cut out with Paper Snips. I tied the card with Silver & White 1/2″ Sheer Ribbon and added six Basic Gray pearls.
