Wishing for Peace

Today is Martin Luther King Jr Day in the United States, a federal holiday when we celebrate Dr. King’s birthday and honor Dr. King’s tireless work for civil rights. While he is most known for his platform against racial segregation on public transportation and his fight for racial equality, Dr. King was also an advocate for the poor and worked to end poverty for all people. At the heart of all of his teachings is love and peace. Here’s a card I made to commemorate the day and showcase some new products:

The foundation for my card is a beautiful, blue sky from the Everyday Skies 6″ x 6″ Designer Series that was released on January 7 as an Online Exclusives offering that pairs with the Everyday Arches Bundle I showcased last week. The patterns in this pack range from clear days to beautiful sunsets and nighttime stars. You can click on the image above to flip through all of the gorgeous pages in this pack of papers, but I want to show you the full page I showcased on my card. Here’s a closer look at this peaceful, serene sky:

The word “wishing” fits right in with this peaceful cloudscape. I cropped the beautiful, thin word with the Delightful Wishes Bundle (from the awe-inspiring yellow suite in the Mini Catalog). I think it also looks perfect in Azure Afternoon. Here’s a look at the Delightful Wishes Bundle:

I added “FOR” and “PEACE” on a 1/2″ strip of Basic White cardstock with Azure Afternoon ink. I pulled both words from the Iconic Imagery stamp set that was released last year as an Online Exclusives offering.

I added three Azure Afternoon dots from the Rainbow Adhesive-Backed Dots for another little touch of the vibrant blue on my card.
