Paper Pumpkin Alternatives – Hearts for You

I hosted my monthly Zoom call with my Paper Pumpkin customers on Saturday. During our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call, I share some fun ideas with the items included in the monthly kit, and my customers share their brilliant ideas. I’m always impressed by what others are making and love to spend that time with my customers who participate. Always such fun!

Pumpkin in the Fungeon, Brian KingJanuary’s Hearts for You kit offers a mix of sophisticated and elegant Valentine’s Day cards. The designs are perfect for for these cards – you DO NOT need to make alternatives to love these products, but we still love to play. Today I’m sharing three alternative cards I made with January’s kit. I was happy to share these cards during our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call – and I’m happy to share these with you today.

More About The Kit

The designed projects in January’s kit are really beautiful. Who wouldn’t love to receive one of these beauties this Valentine’s Day?!. Here’s a look at the finished projects (as designed) from January’s Hearts for You Paper Pumpkin Kit:

Alternative Projects

While I adore the kit’s cards as designed, I wanted to play with the contents of the kit to make something a little different. I love the mix of Real Red, Flirty Flamingo and gold used in the cards so I stuck with those tones (with a few additions) for the cards I made. Here’s a look at the cards I made with the contents of this kit:

Let’s take a closer look at each of these projects:

Love You with Heart Shaped Die

I love the simple, striped pattern in the card base for one of the Paper Pumpkin cards. I decided to cut into the card base to create two panels for a card – one layer is 3-3/4″ x 5″, and the other panel is 3″ x 3″. I wanted to play with something different from the kit, so reached for my Heart Shaped Bundle. Here’s the first alternative card from this kit:

Hearts for You, January 2025 Paper Pumpkin Alternatives, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, 1 of 3I cropped a Summer Splash heart from the Heart Shaped Bundle, an exclusive Sale-a-Bration item you can select for free with a $120 between now and February 28. I LOVE this bundle – and this die is incredible:

If you want this bundle (and you do), NOW might be a really good time to place a $120 order so you can earn it at no additional cost.

Celebrate Love

The second card I’ve shared is a sweet fancy fold card (can such a simple change be called a fancy fold?). I cut 2″ off the side of the Real Red card base and then built a couple of panels (with another card base and a panel from one of the designed cards). Here’s that card:

Hearts for You, January 2025 Paper Pumpkin Alternatives, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, 2 of 3I cropped a small heart from the Flirty Flamingo card base and one from the Marbled Elegance Specialty Designer Series Paper with the Hearts of Elegance Dies. I sprinkled in some Gold Adhesive-Backed Hearts.

If you are behind on your Valentine’s Day projects, you should check out the Marbled Elegance Specialty Designer Series Paper – you’ve got time to pull something together. 🙂 Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this incredible pack of papers:

Love You with Alphabet a la Mode Dies

The third card builds a pattern with hearts and a sentiment. I pulled all of the hearts from the kit, which made it easy to create this card:

Hearts for You, January 2025 Paper Pumpkin Alternatives, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, 3 of 3I positioned two bands of hearts at the center of the card – one upright and one upside down – and decorated the background with gold hearts from the kit and sweet, heart-shaped gems from the kit. I added “LOVE” to the large heart with the Alphabet a la Mode Dies and the “you” from the stamp set in the kit. Here’s a look at the Alphabet a la Mode Dies:
