Celebrate for FabFriday133

Lemon Lime Twist, Basic Black and Smoky Slate – one of my all-time favorite combinations. I used all three for today’s project for the FabFriday133 sketch challenge. Despite all the dark shades, I think this card is uplifting and fun – a Spring beauty on a dark platform. Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Celebrate. Is it a suggestion or a command? Either way, I couldn’t love this “CELEBRATE” sentiment more than I already do. The sentiment is from a limited time stamp set called Color Me Happy that coordinates with a fun Color Me Happy Project Kit. The set and kit were first introduced with the Stampin’ Blends – what fun! I LOVE this sentiment (such a great font), but I also love the images in this set and have used them often. Here’s a look at the fun Color Me Happy stamp set:

EARN THIS KIT FOR FREE! During the last 15 days of March, this kit (along with some other great products) have been added to the Sale-a-Bration options. What fun! The product code for this kit is  150046. I’ve included the complete list of new Sale-a-Bration options at the base of this post.

  • A Tale of Two DSP’s. I love to play with the fun patterns and colors in Stampin’ Up!’s Designer Series Papers. While both of the papers used here are very different (Petal Passion Designer Series Paper is sophisticated and beautiful, while Tutti-Frutti 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper is bright and fun), they work wonderfully together. Each page showcases Whisper White and one color. One page has a bold pattern, while the other has a small pattern. • Color Combination. Since the first time we saw Lemon Lime Twist, I’ve been in love. The lime green color plays well with so many other colors. Perhaps my favorite is the merger of Lemon Lime Twist with Smoky Slate and Basic Black. Black and Gray allow Lemon Lime Twist to shine. If you like this combination of colors, too, please save this: Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration: Lemon Lime Twist, Smoky Slate, Basic BlackI used this color combination almost a year ago with the introduction of the 2017-2019 In Colors. You can see that project here.

  1. Super cute. I have a thing for butterflies.

    • Thanks, Liz! I was a bit hesitant to add a black butterfly, but it’s the only of the three colors that worked in that spot. It looked much crisper than I expected. <3

  2. Love your colors today! I don’t see darkness but fun with the bright lemon-lime and sweet polka dots! I’m always a sucker for polka dots…so fun!

  3. Love your card. Would you share the cutting dimensions? Thank you.

    • Thanks, Tracy! The base is a standard 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″. The large panel is 5-1/4″ x 4″ or 5″ x 3-3/4″. The Tutti-Frutti layer is 2-1/4″ x 3-1/2″. I hope that helps.

  4. Awesome color combination Brian, love the high contrast of the black and that delicious Lemon Lime Twist, the Smoky Slate card base makes everything just POP!!
    Thank you for sharing.
    Maria.

    • Thanks so much, Maria! I’m already sad that we only have a year-and-two-months with Lemon Lime Twist (since it retires in 2019). I love it so much with so many other colors, but this combination is my favorite. <3

  5. So many great color combinations with Lemon Lime Twist, including this one. Great DSP combination too Brian. Lovely card!

  6. Fabulous design using the sketch. I love the pretty die cut butterfly in black over the lime pattern! So striking!

  7. I didn’t think it was possible to combine a black with a gray and end up with a happy card but you prove me wrong once again oh mighty leader! Just totally gorgeous!

  8. I love LLT and black together but adding the gray really brought it to a new level. Awesome card!

  9. Love the Tutti Frutti Paper! There are so many fun colors and patterns, I wish they had made it 12×12.

  10. I love, love this card! The placement of everything is perfect. The color combo is one of my favorites, too! I hope Lemon Lime Twist is here to stay.

  11. Wow, wow, wow, I love these colors together!

  12. I love the fresh looks on your cards! Very much my style too!

  13. Thank you Brian King this card is so in my wheelhouse. I love neutrals and when you add that pop of color with the Lemon Lime Twist, that sound you hear is little baby cherubs singing because its so beautiful. Must the Tutti-Frutti dsp go away? Its so versatile, much more than I anticipated it would be. The butterfly is the cherry on the top of the sundae. Bravo Brian, bravo

  14. Lemon lime twist is one of my all-tim favorite SU colors, and it just shines in this card. Love this color combo! The black butterfly looks so elegant..great card!

  15. Great colors…..smart and stylish!
