My Greatest Adventure

I have [unintentionally] dedicated this entire week to Valentine’s Day cards.  All week I’ve shared my ideas for sweet and simple love cards – and I’ve got many more lined up to share with you in the upcoming week.  I really love sweet cards with red hearts and pink flowers, but I also love to incorporate unexpected colors or elements.  Today’s card has a little bit of both.  Here’s today’s super-simple, but really sweet Valentine’s Day card:

Going Global, Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Valentine's Day cardTips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack.  While Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack isn’t the designed-for-Valentine’s-Day paper stack in this Occasions Catalog, the designs pair so perfectly with the sweet, lovey-dovey images and sentiments in the Going Global stamp set.  What’s the tie-in, Brian?  Well, the “you are my greatest adventure” heart ties-in to the compasses (you need a compass to find your way on a big adventure) on the largest panel of paper and ties in to the arrows (the arrows will obviously pierce a loving heart) on the smallest.  This paper has lots of travel-themed pages – and some that just use the luscious colors.

  • Perfect Placement.  I love that I was able to cut the base of compasses to perfectly fit inside my 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ base.  So easy!  That inspired me to count in and count up to determine the size of a panel I could crop for the inside piece.  While the Basic Black panel of arrows is central to this card, it’s the frame of compasses on Very Vanilla that really make this card so special.  Speaking of perfect placement, I tried to place my Pink Pirouette heart in several places of this card front.  If felt right at home along the right, bottom side of the panel.
  • Sweet, but Unconventional, Colors.  Only the base and top layer of this card are pink, but these three neutrals work really well together to support the soft Pink Pirouette.   If you fancy this color combination, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up!
