Paper Pumpkin Alternative – Fun in the Sun

I hosted my monthly Zoom call with my Paper Pumpkin customers last weekend. During our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call, I share some fun ideas with the items included in the monthly kit, and my customers share their brilliant ideas. I’m always impressed by what others are making and love to spend that time with my customers who participate. Sometimes we rush through our projects and then just chat for the rest of the time.

Pumpkin in the Fungeon, Brian KingToday I’m sharing two alternative projects I shared with July’s Fun in the Sun Kit – mix of fun images, gorgeous colors and lots of summer fun. The cards feature a fun fold that with many layers of fun elements. Before I share one of my alternative projects, here’s a look at the finished projects (as designed) from the June 2023 Paper Pumpkin kit:

Alternative Projects

As always, I designed some projects to share with my customers during our Pumpkin in the Fungeon call – and as always, I loved all the cards my customers shared on the call. Today I’m sharing two of my alternative projects with you. Here are the two projects I’m sharing with you today:

Below are closer looks at each of these projects:

Wish You Were Here

The Fun in the Sun Paper Pumpkin Kit is filled to the brim with beach scenes and sunset boat rides. I pulled two panels from on of the cards and layered them together to make this card:

Fun in the Sun Paper Pumpkin Alternatives, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThe panel with the boat fits perfectly over the sunset background panel behind it. You might not be able to tell from this picture, but it’s popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The layering is so fun! I mounted this scene on Melon Mambo cardstock and a Azure Afternoon  card base. The colorful stripes behind my scene are cropped from an envelope in the kit.

I stamped the sentiment with Melon Mambo ink and cropped it with one of the circle dies in the Reach for the Stars Dies. I added three of the clear embellishments from the kit for an added accent.

Relax, You Deserve It

The second card I’m sharing features an Adirondack chair in a beautiful scene. I started with the trees from one of the Paper Pumpkin cards and knew I wanted to add the chair from another. The trees were just hanging in the middle of the Azure Afternoon panel – when I realized a sandy beach landscape from another panel would give me the foundation I wanted.

Fun in the Sun Paper Pumpkin Alternatives, Stampin Up!, Brian KingI still didn’t have enough and needed something for the skyline. I tried something – and I was excited by how it turned out. I used a Blending Brush to add a little Calypso Coral ink to a piece of Lemon Lolly cardstock. I cropped it with a 2-3/8″ Circle Punch for a perfect sunset. That completed the scene.
