I am preparing for a Christmas in July Stamp-a-Stack this weekend (July 28 at 10am in Atlanta, if you are interested – click here). I have already completed two of the three cards that have traditional images and warm, rich colors. When designing the third card, I couldn’t help but to play around with stamp sets that are not devoted to Christmas and winter themes. While the already completed cards are complex and multi-layered, I wanted my third card to have some bright, non-traditional colors. Why not?
Pennant Parade has some adorable shapes and images that are perfect for birthdays and year-round celebrations. One of the triangles is a Christmas tree. There’s also a little pot for the tree. Here’s my simple and modern card:
Gumball Green and Melon Mambo are the perfect color combination for this modern card. I stamped off three trees in Gumball Green and punched them out with my Petite Pennants Punch. I then added all the embellishments needed to make this thoroughly modern Christmas card pop – tree bases (see first tip below), the pink aura around the center tree, the rhinestone atop the tree. The small pops of pink behind the tree and under the Whisper White panel add a special something to this card.
Helpful tips:
- Play around with the images. Pennant Parade comes with a clay pot for the Christmas tree and leaves only a small stub for the base of the tree. I wanted the “fabulous” tree in the middle to be the only one in a pot and needed something more to create the base of the other three trees. As I carefully reviewed the stamped pot, I realized that the lip of the pot would make a perfect tree trunk for the remaining trees, so I stamped some off, snipped them and mounted them to the other three trees.
