Dang those adorable glassine bags from the Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit! I can’t seem to get it out of my head that the children in my new neighborhood must receive their candy in these cute bags. Fill the bags with candy, wrap the bags with Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series Paper, and we have a simple and easy Halloween candy bag:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders:
Glassine Bag Wraps
- Trim a piece of Designer Series Paper to 12′ x 3′. Score at 1″, 5-1/4″, 6-3/4″ and 11″. Fold up at the center-most score lines:
- Insert candy-filled glassine bag. I stapled the top of the bag on the left and tied the one on the right with Basic Black 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon. Could that petite ribbon be more perfect?
Gift bag tags
I was suprised to see that the Toxic Treats sentiment fit so nicely into Stampin’ Up!’s Extra-Large Tag punch. Since there’s no Extra-Extra-Large Tag punch, I had to improvise to create the borders around the tag. Here’s how I did it:
- Punch the sentiment with the Extra-Large Tag punch.
- Adhere the punched piece to another color of card stock.
- Line up the straight edges of the punched image against the inner-most guide of the trimmer. Hold the image tight and trim away. Work your way around the entire tag. You’ll have a consistent edge all the way around.
Tiny Tombstone Card
After I completed my glassine bag wraps, I wanted a little card to go with. I’m not sure I would ever send a tiny tombstone-shaped card to anyone, but it sure is cute. Here’s how I made it:
- Score a piece of scrap paper.
- Stamp the top of the image along the score lined.
- Fold the card stock in half and feed it into the Decorative Label punch.
Stamp set: Toxic Treats Inks: Tangerine Tango, Basic Black Papers: Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series Paper, Basic Black, Basic Gray, Very Vanilla, Tangerine Tango Accessories: 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon, Decorative Label punch, Extra-Large Tag punch, Paper Piercing Tool

Fabulous idea, Brian!! I always give the candy in those little bags you buy at the party stores but this idea is so much nicer. I only wish we could give home baked cookies or cupcakes instead of just candy but the rules are never to give anything that is not store bought, that really is sad.
Anyway Brian, thanks for another great sugestion.
I just saw the card you sent to Mary Fish and I must say it’s AWESOME!! Your imagination has no boundries.
super cute!
Genius! You are an idea factory! I love how you find creative ways to use SU products! Do you have to hunt for these or do they come naturally? I love the folded tag and can use it for many mini cards even Christmas tags with room to write, since I can’t just do the to and from thing. LOL! I have to admit, Halloween is not my thing so I almost skipped this post, so glad I didn’t I would have missed some great techniques!
These are just so cute … Don`t you just love that paper? That paper is so versatile…I keep thinking I need to get some more before the catty goes out in January. Now, I have made a bunch of labels framelets tags and cards and have used the 4″ bigz square ,the Top Note ,etc. in the BS…but never have I used a punch … you know what this means ..? I am going to be busy this afternoon with my eleven hundred punches…trying to make little cards …thank heavens I just finished up my Halloween collages for my 12×12 frames …or they would be stashed away with my little trees that you had us make…oh when will it end ??? I will be back later…you do know this is World Card Making Day ? I just saw some pretty cards from France ….. Wonder how the Bird punch would look as a card?
Hello
OK to I am “punch” impaired — I still can’t figure out how you did the small note card. HELP!! It’s probably so simple that I’m making it not so simple.

Hey Minnie! I sent you a private emial, but I’m adding my comments here in case someone else is having the same issue:
Here’s a quick step by step:
1. score a piece of paper such that there’s enough room for a Decorative Label punch on either side of the score line.
2. stamp the image from Toxic Treats so that the top of the stamp is on the score line.
3. fold the paper.
4. feed the paper into the Decorative Label punch so that you can punch the image out – leaving just a little room at the top so that your scored top is still in tact.
Does that help? Please let me know if you have further questions! I’m working on getting video added to my posts. I hope that will improve things a bit. 🙂
