While today’s project definitely doesn’t have a “leftovers” look to it, the entire thing is pulled right out of my Bucket of Lost Dreams. If you are new to my blog, you are probably scratching your head right now. I certainly don’t mean to imply that your scalp is dry, although I can’t really say that your scalp is moist and vibrant either. Can we just settle on the fact that I have no opinion about your scalp? I mean, your scalp is beautiful (that’s a fact, not an opinion), but it’s weird for me to make a formal statement about the current status of your scalp in front of everyone. Where were we? Oh, yes! I pulled this project from my Bucket of Lost Dreams…
In my craft room, I keep a plastic bin that collects the discards from my many projects. Lots of punched items and several stamped sentiments. Several Big Shot die scraps live in this Bucket of Lost Dreams – until I salvage them and bring them to live on a project. Sometimes I dig through the bin, looking for something to inspire a new project, and sometimes I go right to the bin because I remember something that was left there. The latter is what happened with this card. Check out the card:
Not only did I have the cropped and punched Christmas Tree in my Bucket of Lost Dreams, but I also had the chevron-embossed background. The card was practically done for me.
Tips, Tricks and Reminders:
- Those colors! Who doesn’t love a colorful card? There’s something really great about lots of colors, shapes and sizes. BUT, there’s something really magical about a card that uses just two colors and still has all the pizazz of a multi-color card. I am in love with the Cherry Cobbler and Lucky Limeade combination. These colors front-and-center in the 300 cards project I debuted last weekend, but I decided to compliment them with Whisper White here.
- That tree! I cropped the whimsical tree with my Holiday Collection framelits (pairs with the Scentsational Season stamp set) on a scrap of Lucky Limeade paper. I then punched it out with my 2-1/2″ Circle punch. That allowed me to align it perfectly. I punched a piece of Whisper White with the same circle punch, lined the two up and added small pieces of dimensionals (I snipped the edges that are left over in the dimensionals when the hexagons have run out).
- Those banners! I used the Christmas Cheer sentiment from Sweet Essentials. I used a sticky note to mask the side of the sentiment I didn’t want to show on the respective banners. Although the sentiment is thin and long, I really like the look of this “chunky” banner.
Stamp Sets: Sweet Essentials Inks: Cherry Cobbler Papers: Cherry Cobbler, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White Accessories: Chevron Embossing Folder, Holiday Collection framelits, 2-1/2″ Circle punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals
Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

I received the cards from the swap and they are gorgeous. Even prettier in person. Thanks for pulling all that together for us. I guess I’ll have to see what is in my bucket of lost dreams. Your card turned out very nicely.
Very pretty, Brian and I imgine super fast since you had the parts already made. Sometimes I look in my Bin on lost dreams and I find stuff there that fit together perfectly or can add the perfect touch to a card in the making. Thank you for the swap, I still have one more card that I need to get, I have 4 already and they are so beautiful. I wonder who received the ones I made. Ladies, please don’t keep me in suspense, do tell, ok?
This is the cutest card…..I have survived a party and a vendor event…let the Holiday prep and finishing Christmas card season begin for me!!!!! Happy weekend and I need to make these cute cards. Love the color combo too.
I love this little tree…I was playing with it`s negative punched out left overs last night… and I also get giddy over left over pieces of CS and DSP … I think it is a challenge to use remnants …sometimes I get more excited putting a card together with those things than using something brand new( I have a thing about not wanting to mess up a brand new sheet of pretty DSP..) you put together a cutie…seriously don`t you just love this set ? I tried the negative cut out with the gingerbread man and light brown felt…just don`t..he looks like an evil gremlin !!!! Of course if you have somebody you don`t particularly like…. later
I love the scale of your chunky banner too! And appreciate your tree askew, adorable Greeting Card!
I’d like to publicly thank Allison W. for the adorable ribbon candy cane adorned gift card holder I received in Brian’s swap! So, so cute!
Thank you, again, Allison! And thank you, again, Brian!
Adorable! Everyone should have a lost bucket of dreams. I love this color combo, especially for Christmas. It is so rich looking yet current! 🙂 Great post!
LOVE this card!
I too have that bucket of dreams but somehow never seem to go to it. Maybe it’s because I just can’t remember what’s in it and it’s overflowing thereby becoming a daunting challenge? Yikes, the alternative is that I am getting old and can’t remember what I have anymore!
The simplicity of this card Brian is what makes it so beautiful. You are a card making genius!
Hummmm. I have a “Things I might use someday” box. Might be renamed! Thanks, Brian, great card.
I’m with Dianne…. my “scrap box” certainly would sound better as a “Box of Lost Dreams”. Brian, you are so inventive! And if I haven’t said it before (yea, right)… YOU ALWAYS MAKE ME LAUGH! I will no longer look at my scalp the same way. Love this card…. it really is great that it just appeared out of your bucket with little effort. Awesome!
Lovely card! Simple (and I don’t mean that you had some of the pieces already made!)…the color combo is not one I would not have thought of, but, yes, it works! Thank you for sharing with us, from your Bucket of Dreams…think we all need one of those!
