I have a special treat for you today: a fun card, the return of Baja Breeze AND glitter. That’s right, glitter. This card is inspired by Ann Schach’s theme challenge over at the Paper Players. Ann challenged us to create projects with following a “Snowmen” theme. Not Snowwomen or Snowpeople. Not Snowbabies or Snowpets. Snowmen.
I have a lot of stamps, I admit, but I ONLY have two current sets that feature a snowman (my sets are overflowing with Snowwomen and Snowpets). So, I was somewhere between Button Buddies and Tags til Christmas. Neither snowman is particularly showy or beautiful, so therein lied my real challenge. Here’s my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders:
- Masking the stamped image. The stamped image from Tags til Christmas includes a “To: From:” sentiment that I didn’t want to include in this card. To mask the sentiment, I placed a small piece of sticky note over the clean image on the stamp, pressed the stamp into the ink, removed the sticky note and then stamped it on Whisper White. Easy, no? Here’s the “before” picture:
- Mess-free glitter. Since you are a dedicated reader of my blog, you know that I detest glitter. Glitter is absolutely terrible. So, why did I dare to use it here? Dazzling Details comes in a tiny, compact bottle. Squeeze the liquidy glitter onto the card, and you are done. No mess, no tiny pieces of metal all over everything you own. Here’s a closeup of the Dazzling Details I used to fill the snowy base of the snowman circle:
- Making the envelope. I love to change things up a bit. This card is not a typical card size, but it IS a standard size. This card base measures 11″ x 7″, folded at 3-1/2″ and fits perfectly in a standard business envelope. I made my envelope, though, with coordinating DSP. To see my tutorial, click here.
Stamp sets: Tags til Christmas Papers: Midnight Muse, Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Color Collection Designer Series Paper Stack (Subtles, Baja Breeze) Inks: Midnight Muse Accessories: 1-3/4″ Circle punch, 2-3/8″ Scallop Circle punch, Typeset Alphabet Bigz die, Stampin’ Dimensionals
Now that you have thoroughly enjoyed my project, go to The Paper Players to check out the other Snowmen projects. Make your own and submit it this week if you get a chance!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
Brian
Cute little “guy”! And looks like you could easily slip a $50. in there making it the Perfect Gift Card!
Oh my goodness Brian, when I started reading your post and I came to the part when you mention GLITTER, I thought “Hmmmmm, maybe he got over his dislike of this pretty stuff” but, as I kept reading I learned that you indeed used GLITTER but in it’s safe form. I wonder if you ever had nightmares where you are taking a walk and it starts to snow and then, the snow turns into GLITTER!!!!! and you are covered in it, I hope this never happens to you. The card is fabulous, really, really fantastic and, changing the shape of it makes it fun to look at too. The letters are amazing, I don’t have that die but I have a Cricut machine and I think I can make letters this big with it. Have a great day!!
uh, oh…alert, Brian {teehee}, Maria’s giving you subliminal messages to haunt you! {love it, Maria!}
Maria – my dreams are the only place on Earth where I can be free from glitter. I will continue to keep glitter away from my sleep time. 🙂
Great card Brian and I love the liguid glitter (not a big fan of the other messy stuff either!!). I can’t wait to try a card this size! I never thought to do that so I’m grateful – yet again – for your blog!!
Beautiful card, Brian. Love that Typeset Alphabet!
Great card, love how you turned the snOman into and O and found the Brian friendly glitter.

Cute card….thanks for your reference to how you made your own custom designed envelope… I make the standard #10 …but would like to do your style from time to time …I learned this style in a workshop a couple of years ago and forgot about it … and I love love snow cards because you can sparkle them up…I discovered Stickles a few years ago (Tim`s glitter ) and use it because regular glitter just becomes aggresive and invasive(truly, it`s kinda spooky ) then SU came out with theirs (which I haven`t used because I have eleventy hundred bottles of the Stickles) ….another good thing about your card …great for people that are vision impaired !!!
Sonny – I LOVE your vision-impared spin on this card. Classic!
Hey Brian….I went and peeked at The Paper Players and I think you need to jump on board as one of their guest designers… You could do it with ALL of the free time you have and your cards always stand up so pretty and proud (with their little hands raised to be noticed) every time I go look at their challenges. …. just a thought …..
Thanks, Sonny. I submitted my name as a hopeful. I would love to be on their design team. Time will tell.
Love this card – and as Maria said, I can use my Cricut machine for the letters (as I don’t have the Typeset – yet!!!). Love all your cards – thank you so much!
PS – thanks to Sonny – this is a card I shall make for my mother-in-law, who is suffering from poor vision! Thanks.
I love this card. CAS. Love the stripes going sideways and the snow falling down. Love it!!!!
I tried very hard to send a comment this morning (from my iPad) but your clever request to sign up to follow your blog popped up and would not give me the space to hit send….so here are my comments…..for whatever they may mean to anyone…LOL! I really like the size and shape of your card and that you made a special envelope for it. I applaud you for using the Dazzling Details as it adds the sparkle with little mess (unless of course you accidentally hit it before it dries….ugh,….yes, I’ve been known to spread some around upon occasion…to anxious for it to dry!!!). And thanks for the reminder that we can cover up what we don’t want stamped…I tend to forget these things….egads….I’m loosing it! Thanks Brian!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely adorable, Brian! So unique and clever! Thanks for playing with The Paper Players!
Beautiful as Always Brian!!!
Great use of that cute little image, Brian & I love that you included some “safe” glitter too. The large, long format looks fabulous with the bold lettering. Thanks for playing along with The Paper Players. 🙂
I am still chuckling at your glitter comment Brian! Glitter IS messy but I love sparkle so much, I can tolerate it. But gliter glue is an awesome invention, indeed. I really like the fun shape of the card, too. Thank you so much for joining us this week at the Paper Players! 🙂
Adorable!!! another way to remove the to and from on the stamp. would be to ink the entire image and the remove the ink from the stamp witha blender pen.
