The Big Day and a Blog Candy Giveaway

Today’s the big day – my Big 4-0 is here, and I have no qualms about it. My 20’s were a time of transition, and my 30’s were a time of growth. I think I’m in a wonderful place to be able to really ride the wave of happiness in my 40’s. I didn’t know you in my 20’s, and we only met during the last year of my 30’s. I know the best is still to come.

Over the past week, I’ve asked you to tell me what your favorite Stampin’ Up! product is. Sure – I was dangling a carrot in front of you (or would you have been more motivated by a slice of carrot cake with a delightful cream cheese icing?), but you responded with great enthusiasm. Such a hard question to answer, right? How do you begin to select your FAVORITE when there are so many great products from which to choose? It’s like being asked to choose your favorite Golden Girl – we all love Rose for her good-natured airheadedness, but who wants to hurt Blanche’s feelings because her thoughts and actions were so awesomely outrageous. And then there’s Dorothy with her admirably dry wit that was wonderfully offset by Sophia’s loving criticisms. They’re ALL so good – and together, they are amazing. How to choose?!?

So, you all responded, and the biggest winner – by a long shot – was the Big Shot. You love that thing, and so do I, but I have to admit that it’s not my favorite Stampin’ Up! product. I shared my thoughts in the comments on the blog post, but I’ll re-share for you here (in case you decided to not read through all 300+ responses to seek my response):

I am such a huge fan of Stampin’ Up!’s families and color selections. I love that I can coordinate my supplies by color and know that I will have an exact match with ink, paper, ribbon and embellishments. As I say in all of my classes and workshops, if I went to M*cha*l’s and bought red paper, a red stamp pad and red ribbon, I can be certain they won’t be the same shade. Yuck! My absolute favorite Stampin’ Up! product, though, is Stampin’ Dimensionals. I can hardly point to a card I’ve made that doesn’t use these little hexagons of joy. As a demonstrator, we are not allowed to stockpile products – but I will admit that I have just enough Stampin’ Dimensionals to get me through a Zombie Apocalypse.

But enough about me. You want to know who won the Stampin’ Trimmer, right? Drumroll, please. By random selection, the winner of the Stampin’ Trimmer is #61 – Carol Carriveau.

20121215-205316.jpg Carol said, “Hard for me to decide between the Big Shot and my punches…they are my go-to tools….along with everything else that plays well with them!” Please email me, Carol, with your mailing address, so I can get this sweet trimmer in the mail to you.

And…don’t forget about all the goodies that were added to Stampin’ Up!’s Clearance Rack! I’ve never seen that many items added at once – and it’s the first time they’ve added stamp sets to the list. Wowzers! Several items have already sold out, so shop now if you want to get some great deals. Click here >;>;>; http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ItemList.aspx?categoryID=1218&dbwsdemoid=2104107

  17. Carol, you lucky ducky – enjoy your new trimmer and congratulations. BRIAN, BRIAN, BRIAN – you are so right. The 40’s are an amazing decade. The best 10 years of my life for sure. You know who you are, you aren’t afraid to enjoy those traits you feel are huge assets, you aren’t afraid to acknowledge your faults and MOST OF ALL, you’re at a point in life when you can sit back and like yourself for who you are and not worry about what other people think. Enjoy these years Brian. In addition to all that, you get to make money doing something you love, that’s pretty rare these days. So nice to know that you and I share a favorite SU product with the dimensionals. Have yourself an extra-ordinary, fun day.

  18. Happy Birthday Brian. When I turned the big 4-0, my mother told me I was entering the absolute best time of my life. She was right! Enjoy your day, and the years ahead.

  21. Wow…two fabulous reasons foe celebrating today…first your birthday, and though it was a bit ago (sure seems like it some days!) that I turned 40, i agree with the sentiments of ithers. It was a comfortable time when you definitely feel like an adult, all grown up and ready to tackle the world! The second reason to celebrate is of course that I won the trimmer…hurrah to me…and what an amazing and fun surprise to wake up to this overcast and gray Sunday morning! Thanks to all of you for your congratulations, and yes I will tell you all about using the trimmer! Thank you Brian for offering this wonderful gift and wishing you a fabulous birthday full of love and surprises!
