Happy Halloween with The Paper Players & A Sneak Peek

I’m still reeling from an amazing Convention.  Did you miss yesterday’s summary of the three-day event?  If so, check it out here.  Well, Convention wasn’t the only excitement this week, Stampin’ Up! also announced some really great promotions and new products.  I want to share those with you today, but first I want to share a quick-and-easy card for The Paper Players sketch challenge.  Let’s start with the card:Halloween Happiness, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Here’s Jaydee’s clean and simple sketch:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Choosing color with Designer Series Paper.  There are several really great pieces of 12″ x 12″ paper in this Designer Series Paper (Witches’ Brew) , but I really love this page of colorful stripes.  Because I love the combination of colors so much, I decided to let the paper dictate the color choices.  Easy peasy.
  • Snip those gourds.  This stamp set (available in the Holiday Catalog) features four pumpkins (one is a jack-o-lantern), but my circle only has room for three – and you know how I like to present things in threes.  I rearranged the pumpkins and snipped them out, layering them “just so” on the circle before adding the sentiment below.
  • Uniform borders.  Because the Basic Gray border around the Very Vanilla circle is so thin (dictated by the size of the Circles Collection framelit and the 2-1/2″ Circle punch, I recreated a very thin border around the other Very Vanilla pieces – the banner and the center piece of the card.  Repeating the border gives a uniformity to the card.  !  We love uniformity, don’t we?  Yippee!

Stamp Sets: Halloween Happiness  Inks:  Pumpkin Pie, Pear Pizzazz, Summer Starfruit, Jet Black StazOn  Papers:  Basic Black, Basic Gray, Very Vanilla, Witches’ Brew Designer Series Paper  Accessories:  2-1/2″ Circle punch, Circles Collection Framelits, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I want to share some new products and remind you of new promotions.

Undefined (available now).  Do you ever need a stamp that’s not available in the Annual Catalog?  Do you want an image that’s so personal to you that no crafting company would carry it?  Well, here’s your solution.  While at Convention, Stampin’ Up! unveiled its really new and really cool new product line – Undefined.  Shannon West showed us a quick pass at making your own stamp, and I have to admit it was really easy and fun.  Here’s a quick video to show you how it works.

And here’s a flyer you can click on to get more information.  The kit retails for just $19.95 (US), so try it out!  You won’t be disappointed.

Thinlits (Available August 1).  Before Convention formally kicked off, Justin and I had an impromptu discussion about the products we’d like to see from Stampin’ Up!  We had hints that new products were on their way, so it got us started.  Justin wanted to see more Thinlits.  Ding!  Ding!  Ding!  There are some really great Thinlits in the Holiday Catalog, but these Thinlits take it all to another level.  With these Thinlits, you can make “flip cards”  (see below).  Starting August 1, Stampin’ Up! is bringing Thinlits your way. Check out the flyer below.

Buy Three, Get One Free Designer Series Paper (available through July 31).  Between now and the end of the month, you can get a free pack of Designer Series Paper when you buy three.  See the below flyer for more information.  This is a great deal, so please don’t let it pass you by – you deserve it.

Join my Team.  Have you been thinking about joining my team?  Want to have fun with me and other members of my group?  This is a great time to sign up with Stampin’ Up!  Now (through August 31), you get to pick a free project kit from the Holiday Catlog when you sign up.  Please contact me if you would like more information about how you can join!  Email me at stampwithbrian@gmail.com.

Yippee!! Yes we do love uniformity!!! And I love when you get all snippy with it Brian!!!! Great card to get us into fall & Halloween!!!

  2. Wow Brian, you must be so excited about Undefined. You can finally create the “porcupine on a cruise ship” stamp you needed !!!!! (For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, see Brian’s posts of 4th and 5th March 2013…)

  3. Three cheers for Uniformity!! and Porcupines on Cruise Ships …Seriously! 🙂

  4. Such a fun card with clean lines and these cute pumpkins with their sassy stems! Thanks, B!

  5. Love the simplicity of your card. A nice change for a Halloween card, instead of ghosts and goblins flying around. Boy, SU is sure throwing new products at us left and right, it’s hard to keep up. Loving every minute of it. I really am looking forward to the envelope board maker I’ve read about from convention posts. So many different envelope sizes.

  6. I like your idea of taking rhe Jack O Lantern away…I think this is a really cute stamp for Halloween but, with a simple snip I will get even more use with it for the whole fall season . And I already plan on the Thinlits for the Flip cards ….Oh boy ! Not too sure about the Undefined …cute idea and I think it would be worth a try …I`m not too good with the Exacto Knife …. It`s almost time to order for August ….yay ! “Making a list and checking it twice ” Seems like I have heard that before ?

Really pretty CAS card for Halloween, not to soon to start thinking of making some quick and easy cards and this one is a great example Brian. Thank you for sharing. Oh, by the way, I agree with Bee, with this Undefined kit, you can really create that cute image of your porcupine on a cruise ship, I hope you still have the drawing.

  8. I really love this card Brian. Fall is my favorite season of the year – the heat and miserable humidity of summer vanishes but the cold winds and six feet of snow have yet to arrive. The amazing colors of the trees here in New England is a reminder of what a wondrous planet we live on. This card absolutely captures the color and beauty of fall for me. Your creativity is like fall – simply amazing!

  9. I like this card, Brian. It’s whimsical and clean with the perfect dashes of color and pop. A good card to demo. ( Or CASE! ) Great job with Jaydees sketch!

  10. Love the updated blog picture.

  11. WOW! I love love love this card Brian! Love the colors, love the design, and I really love those cute little cut outs! And you know what?? I even love that I got to meet YOU at convention, and listen and watch you in your element, showing all those ladies how it’s done! Congratulations on your Rising Star Award, and a “star” you are! (hey! that rhymes!) You inspire me each and every day, and you are one of the reasons I am really going to try to turn my loved hobby into a business! Hugs! (Oh and thanks for my name “in print” on your blog) ! 🙂

  12. Love your card Brian. Those little pumpkins are so cute and that strip of paper is perfect. Love the CAS
