SNEAK PEEK: When Skies Are Gray

Today, I am sharing a card with some SNEAK PEEK products from the 2014 Occasions Catalog (starts Jan 3) and 2014 Sale-a-Bration (starts Jan 28).  When I designed and constructed this card last weekend, I had no idea I’d spend much of the next week sick in bed – oh, the sadness!  This card would have instantly made me smile even when I was feeling the worst.  Let’s take a look at the card, and then I’ll share three reasons why I think this is such a happy card:

Three Reasons This Card is a Mood Lifter:

• “You Make Me Happy When Skies are Gray.”  This sentiment is from See Ya Later, one of the ADORABLE stamp sets you can earn during Sale-a-Bration this year.  You can barely read the words without singing them.  AND if you are singing the words, then you are 90% on the road to feeling happy again.  Am I wrong?!?  How can you sing “You are my Sunshine” and not feel the joy?
• Pop of Color.  Smoky Slate is featured on the card base, in the High Tide Designer Series Paper and on the chevron ribbon.  The combination of colors and textures set a background that’s a tad dreary and forlorn.  The big, bright starburst really stands out against this landscape, making the impact of the starburst even more uplifting.  Smile!  Let’s not forget that the starburst adds a great shape and wonderful texture – the colors only accentuate the shape.
• The New Products.  If the incredible sentiment or the thoughtful color arrangement don’t make you super-happy, I’m sure the new products will put a smile on your face.  🙂  Featured here are:
  • High Tide Designer Series Paper.  While this paper is mostly filled with nautical images in blues and yellows, I was drawn to this piece of Whisper White paper with Smoky Slate water spots.
  • See Ya Later.  Again, this is a great sentiment from a Sale-a-Bration set.  The other three sentiments are just as wonderful.  While the sentiment used above comes with a tiny image, I cropped it out to just use the words.
  • Starburst Framelit Dies.  Love, love, love!  While the Starburst Framelit Dies coordinate with a stamp set in the Occasions Catalog called Starburst Sayings, the framelits coordinate perfectly with anything inside a circle.
