A Happy Birthday Celebration with The Paper Players

I must start by thanking all of you for your kind words and support yesterday.  I’ve always said that papercrafters are a sweet and caring bunch – and I believe that’s true.  Yesterday was a very long day – 10 hours on the road (rountrip) for a very short visit.  I’m glad I’m only a drive away from much of my family – it means so much to me to be so close to them.  Well, it’s Monday, and that means it’s time for another challenge from The Paper Players.  This week’s sketch dictates a cute tag exploding from the side of a base panel and the placement of three adornments and the sentiment.  I carefully followed the sketch, tilting the centerpiece just a tad and added an explosion of twine on the tag.  Here’s my card:

Bring on the Cake, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, PP180

And here’s the sketch from The Paper Players that inspired my celebratory birthday card:

 Tips, Tricks and Reminders:

  • Sale-a-Bration Sneak Peek.  Can you find the Sale-a-Bration sneak peek in this card?  There aren’t many options, so I’ll just tell you – it’s the top piece of the tag.  The tag is from the Twisty Treats Kit.  Don’t you just love the stripes and the color combination?  While the tag has a built-in hole, I turned the tag around and ran it through my Angled Tag Topper Punch so that it would coordinate with the layer beneath (more on that later).
  • Fuzzy Twine.  To dress up the card a bit, I reached for my Bermuda Bay and Tangerine Tango Baker’s Twine (both colors are included in the Tag a Bag Accessories Kit in the Annual Catalog).  Rather than allwoing a couple of strands to sadly hang off the side of the tag, I wrapped the twine around my hand, tied it off in the middle and then trimmed the looped ends.  Pom-pom.  Check!
  • Tag – You’re It!  I’m going to do you a favor (by telling you what to do) – the Tag Topper punches are must-haves from the Occasions Catalog, so please order them now.  They are great for tags on bags or gifts, but they are hugely versatile for cardfronts, too.  While they are designed for a [just under] 2″ strip of cardstock, you can punch any smaller size as long as you center the piece.  If would like to buy them from me (thank you, thank you, thank you), you can do so right now – click here.

Stamp sets:  Bring on the Cake  Papers:  Bermuda Bay, Tangerine Tango, Whisper White, Twisty Treats Kit (Sale-a-Bration)  Inks:  Bermuda Bay  Accessories:  2-1/2″ Circle punch, Circles Collection Framelits, Starburst Framelit Dies, Angled Tag Topper punch, Bermuda Bay and Tangerine Tango Baker’s Twine (from Tag a Bag Accessories Kit), Brights Candy Dots (Bermuda Bay), Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you like today’s card, and I hope you’ll check out the other cards over at The Paper Players challenge.
