Simple Thanks for Simple Saturday

It’s Saturday, and that means it’s time for a Simple Saturday project (I suppose I could share Simple Saturday projects on Mondays or Thursdays, but they just seem to fit-in on Saturdays).  🙂  I’ve had the idea for this card in the back of my brain for a couple of weeks, and I was able to tailor it a bit to fit with this week’s Friday Mashup Challenge.  Here’s my card:

Perfect Print Alphabet Bigz, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FM165

And here’s the challenge banner for Friday Mashup:

The challenge this week is to:  (1) use black, white and one other color in a card, (2) showcase a word bubble on a card or (3) create a card with both the color combination and word bubbles.  I chose to make a card with black, white and Coastal Cabana.

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Designer Series Paper.  In honor of Simple Saturdays, Designer Series Paper is a great foundation for any card – it does all the work for you to make the work simpler and easier.  Designer Series Paper can also inspire emotion or a color combination in a card.  If you don’t use it, I suggest you try it.  If you have some, I suggest you get it all.  Maybe I’m a little paper-crazy, but I want you to love it as much as I do.
  • Perfect Print Alphabet Bigz.  I was a huge proponent of the Typeset Alphabet Bigz Dies that retired earlier.  I loved working with them and enjoyed spelling short words every chance I had.  Have you seen the Perfect Print Alphabet Bigz dies yet?  Well, you just saw six of the letters (look up).  The entire set is AMAZING!  The letters are fun and modern – and they are super-thin, which makes them perfect for making cards.
  • Cards of Any Size.  I love an A2-sized card – the standard 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ card front.  Every once in a while, though, it’s fun to mix things up and make a card of a different size or shape.  This card front is 4-1/4″ x 8″ – while the “thanks” panel is only 5″ long and could have fit on a standard card front, I wanted to make sure I had plenty of space to showcase the DSP.  The differently shaped card also gave me a chance to create a coordinated envelope with my Envelope Punch Board.  Yippee! 24. Love the card. Maybe it’s my monitor, but the white has a hint of pink from where I’m sitting, which also looks good! Cute card, great letters. I’m also hoping you will share the tip about getting your letters lined up right 🙂

  25. Brian, I love Coastal Cabana mixed with basic black and whisper white. It’s the perfect color combination for this week’s mashup! Great way to mix things up too by changing the cards size. Thanks for playing with us at the Friday Mashup.
