Be Scary with Holiday Invitation by Stampin’ Up!

Have you ever watched a two-week old kitten attack a ball of yarn?  He thinks he’s being fierce and scary – he hikes back and bounces (err…pounces), but let’s be honest – in his fierceness, he’s really just cute.  I think you know what I’m talking about.  Today’s card is the same way – the sentiment says “be scary” but the jack-o-lantern is just cute.  Here’s my card:

Holiday Invitation, Fall Fest, Cheerful Tags, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Striped Background Paper.  Do you like these tiny, stripes?  There’s no Designer Series Paper, and there’s no Halloween stamp that includes them.  So, where did I find them?  Cheerful Tags is a photopolymer set in the Holiday Catalog – but it’s not limited to Christmas.  🙂  Woo hoo!
  • Tag Layers.  This tag might look super-easy, but there are actually a lot of steps to recreate it.  Here’s how I created this tag (from base to top) –
    • I cropped a piece of Basic Black cardstock with the Scallop Tag Topper punch and rounded out with the Project Life Corner Rounder.
    • I stamped the Cheerful Tags image in Tangerine Tango and cropped it with the Note Tag punch.
    • The base of the banner is created with 1/4″ strips of Tangerine Tango, Whisper White and Basic Black banners.
    • Mr. Pumpkin (that’s his official name) was stamped on Whisper White with Tangerine Tango and cropped with the Fun Fall framelits.  The jack-o-lantern face is longer than is shown below – I stamped the mount, cleaned my stamp and then stamped the eyes to make his little face a little cuter.
    • To create the top banner, I stamped the Cheerful Tags image in Tangerine Tango and the stamped the sentiment with Tuxedo Black Memento, allowing the sentiment to run off the edge.  I then cropped the sentiment and created a banner tip.  I positioned the banner to line up the Cheerful Tags image on the sentiment with the layer beneath.Holiday Invitation, Fall Fest, Cheerful Tags, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • More Cheerful Tags.  Not only did I create the tag with Cheerful Tags, but I also created the band beneath it with the same image.  If you ripped the tag off this card (please don’t do that), you’d find the rounded tips of the stamp meeting in the middle.  It looks like one strip of printed paper.
