A Stampin’ Up! Boo Tag for Friday Mashup

I love the two-part challenges over at The Friday Mashup.  This week, Cindy Brumbaugh challenges us to either (1) create a tag for a bottle, box or bag, (2) create a project with bling or (3) create a tag with bling (thus, the mashup).  Here’s my spooky, creepy tag:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Color Selection.  I’ve really fallen in love with Tangerine Tango and Tangelo Twist – the deep, rich oranges that add so much appeal to all projects – Spring, birthday celebration, Halloween.  For today’s spooky tag project I decided to go with Pumpkin Pie for a lighter, sweeter orange.  It might not seem like a BIG choice to you, but it was really hard for me to pull away from the deep oranges, and I’m glad I did.
  • Build-a-Boo.  Boo boos need kisses, right?  This boo is kissed and then stamped.  What a connection!  I inked up the spider web from Bite Me with Tuxedo Black Memento.  I then inked up the letters with Pumpkin Pie.  I pressed the inked letter into the inked web and stamped onto Whisper White.  I snipped out the letters and added the ghost from Holiday Home.  Here’s a closer view of the last “o.”Larger Than Life Alphabet & Numbers, Bite Me, Holiday Home, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FM181
  • Build-the-Bling.  The challenge called for bling.  I set out to add glimmer paper to my project and was certain you’d be so proud of me.  Part way through, though, I realized I had black sequins from the Seasonal Snapshot Project Life Accessory Kit – those are blingy, right?  Well, not enough.  I colored rhinestones with a Pumpkin Pie Blendabilities marker and attached them to the center of the sequins – now, that’s some bling.  To center the rhinestone-enhanced sequins, I lined up the tag on a piece of grid paper and placed my center sequin in the center (since there’s an odd number of sequins, one will be exactly center).  I add the others from there.Larger Than Life Alphabet & Numbers, Bite Me, Holiday Home, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, FM181

  2. Cute Cute ! All in all SU has a lot of orange types ,but Pumpkin Pie is the champ for this time of the year . It is a tradition ! Such a great orange for Fall .
Farrell calls his favorite people Boo ! Love your Boo Tag !

  3. Not sure if I spelled Farrell`s name right ??? But I don`t think he reads your blog anyway (no offense )

    • Hi Sonny, if you mean the judge on The Voice, love that show so much, it’s Pharrell. Isn’t he so complimentary to the contestants, love him.

      • Amazing human being, that Pharrell! So you can even add extra words to the word boo, and it becomes a loving phrase, “You’re my Boo.” 🙂

  4. Hi Brian:

Perfect, perfect, perfect tag (as always) and one heck of a terrific snipping job, especially the insides of the “O”‘s! The coup de gras of this tag is the little cutesy ghost. So cool, so pretty, so perfect. Oh my – you just never cease to amaze me!

  5. Great take on the sketch, Mister King! Love the kiss technique and the snipping of the BOO on this fun tag. I always think sequins need something in the middle, and the rhinestones are a fabulous addition:) Thanks for playing along with us at the Friday Mashup this week!

  6. Great tag, you chose the perfect orange for this project. The kiss technique you used adds depth, but the little ghost does it for me. Great job Brian.

  7. You are the fussy cut king! I bow down.

  8. Love that you’re now using the “Table by StaminBuddy” to show us all the products you use in a project! Thanks!

  9. Delightful tag; the special bling you created is awesome!

  10. That was a lot of work! If you didn’t detail how you got to that web-encrusted BOO, I would’ve thought you just used a light orange paper and stamped it with a web stamp, after using a die. Yes, indeed, you are, like Bonnie said, the fussy-cut King!

  11. Brian, what a great Halloween tag! Love the cut-out BOO and the kissing technique you used on the letters. Thanks for playing with us at the Friday Mashup.
