On the First Day of Christmas- Sneak Peek

Inside the warm embrace of Stampin’ Up!’s Holiday Supplement is a new stamp set called 12 Days of Christmas.  While there are several brilliant ways to use this stamp set (I’m describing several later in this post), I used it to add a fun sentiment to a card.  When I saw the set, I immediately knew that I’d have to pair one of the sentiments with the pear tree in Partridge & Pears – makes sense, right?  Here’s my card that combines the two:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • 12 Days of Christmas.  While I can’t show you the inside of the Holiday Supplement until it is published next week, I can show you the stamp set I’ve already picked up.  🙂  Here it is (in wood mount).  So many options, so many projects to make – I’d better get busy.12 Days of Christmas, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Alternative Uses.  The set is perfectly paired with either of the tag topper punches to make adorable gifts for the holidays – who wouldn’t love to receive a gift from their “true love” each day of Christmas?  In fact, that seems to be WHY this stamp set was created in the first place.  The set could also pair nicely with Project Life by Stampin’ Up! pages or traditional scrapbooking pages.  While the set comes with a block-style “Christmas”, I chose to combine the sentiment with “Christmas” from Endless Wishes:Partridge in a Pear Tree, 12 Days of Christmas, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • A Rebel with Blendabilities.  I know that Blendabilities were created to blend the shades of one color together – it’s all right there in the name.  I’m a rebel sometimes and just use these awesome markers for coloring.  That’s right, I said it.  I used two of my Old Olive shades to color the segments of these leaves – but no blending.  These markers leave a consistent, clean image every time – I love them!  I colored the partridge with Smoky Slate Blendabilities and then “lifted” out some color (adding texture and depth) with my color lifter.
