Saturday is finally here! I’ve been working all week to prepare for the Crafty Consignment Sale that’s happening today! Woo hoo! I’ll share more on that tomorrow. For now, I’m happy to share a card I made for Simple Saturday – super-simple and super-fun. Here’s my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Bold Embossing. This gorgeous sentiment is heat embossed with Crushed Curry Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Blackberry Bliss cardstock. I love the combination of these two colors. To further accentuate the Crushed Curry, I added a thin border of the regal yellow around the sentiment panel – makes it almost look like the yellow sentiment might be a cutout, allowing the panel to peep through.
- Balance. I say it all the time – and if you read my blog all the time, then you read it all the time. Still, it’s worth repeating some of the time. It’s so important that all of the elements in a card balance – they don’t have to be centered, but they have to create a balanced harmony on the face of the card. The Crumb Cake band is positioned close to the top of the card front, while the sentiment is positioned in the lower, right. I needed a little bit more balance, so I added three Crushed Curry candy dots above the sentiment. It gave me just the balance I needed.
- Color Combination. I love this color combination. It all started with Blackberry Bliss and Crushed Curry – to keep it from traveling into Mardi Gras, I grounded the two colors a bit with some Crumb Cake. If ever you question your colors, they will always be enhanced by Crumb Cake. 🙂 If you like this color combination, too, feel free to save this off for future reference.

Love the color combination, love the card!
Beautiful! Love the crushed curry embossing!
Gorgeous-saving & pinning! Thanks for helping me remember that embossing can go beyond the “metallics”.
Blackberry Bliss is just about the most perfect shade of deep purple, I hope they never retire it!!! I love this combination of colors and this stamp is simply lovely, I think I will add this set to my wish list, I kind of pass it up the first time I saw it but the more I see it used, like in your beautifully simple card, the more I want it.
Thank you for sharing 🙂
The word that came to mind when I saw this card was “Royal”. When Diana and Charles were married just about everything was in deep purple and gold including a few “remembrances” my daughter brought me from London. Now, every time I see this color combination, elegance comes to mind. Indeed this card is elegant and certainly fit for Royalty. The King does it yet again!
Gorgeous!
Just stunning!
Love the colors! My husband likes the candy dots, but he said that is because they are “+1 counters” in the game of Magic.
Great card Brian
This is a great card. I love your little lesson about balance. This is a mistake I make too often but now I think I understand the idea of placement and balance. Thanks for the inspiration!
That card is just stunning, thanks so much for sharing.

Elegant! I like the different-width bands you used for the borders, and of course, the curry and blackberry go so well together, with the crumb cake toning the two down a little. 🙂
4 sure a wow card!!!
Love it! Excellent colour combo 🙂
