While I love Thanksgiving (it’s my favorite holiday of the year), I am not one to wait until November to begin feeling grateful for all the wonderful things in my life. Each and every day, I recognize how fortunate I am for my family, my friends, and this amazing platform where I am able to share with you every day. I love to create, and I love to share, so I’m thankful that I can grab your attention (even if for a little while) each day. Thank you.
This week’s sketch for Pals Paper Arts is super-fun! Circles, circles, circles. Here’s my card:
And here’s Nicole Watt’s sketch that inspired my creation:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Color Combination. I wanted to make a thank you card that honors Thanksgiving but can be used for any occasion. I played around with several different combinations of colors before finding the one that worked the best (in my opinion) with these Daydream Medallions. If you, too, like this color combination, please feel free to save this:
- Balancing Colors. So, I picked four colors – now the challenge is to map out the shapes and layers of shapes so that they balance each other out. Not only did I try to balance the colors on the face of the card (squint to see the balance), but I tried to make sure one shape doesn’t keep the same color (the smallest image is represented by each color). I allowed there to be more Perfect Plum in the images to pair nicely with the Perfect Plum card base.
- Think my Way Out of It. Before gluing down this card, I had a Whisper White banner with the sentiment stamped in Perfect Plum. It just wasn’t working – too much white. I tried to “think my way out of it” for a couple of days – how, oh, how could I fix it? The moment I thought to change the banner, itself, to Perfect Plum (I was in my car at the time), I knew it was the right decision. Woo hoo!
Stamp Sets: Daydream Medallions, Lots of Thanks Papers: Perfect Plum, Old Olive, Whisper White Inks: Perfect Plum, Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Soft Suede Accessories: Stampin’ Dimensionals, Hexagon punch (for banner tips)
I hope you’ll pop over to the PPA site to see the other projects by the other design team members.
Thanks for stopping by today!
