Bravo for Candy

You already know I love celebrating when other people succeed, right?  Congratulations Cards and You’re Awesome Cards are just as common in The Fungeon as Birthday Cards or Thank You Cards.  I just love the joy that a card can create – today, I’m sharing a Bravo card I made for Candy Ford, a member of my Stampin’ Up! team who has just been “blowing it up” this year.  Not only has Candy earned this year’s Getaway Trip to Newport Beach, but she’s well on her way to replacing that with the Grand Vacation (a Mediterranean cruise).  Earlier this year, she earned Stampin’ Up!’s prestigious Rising Star award, too.  I couldn’t be happier for her.  Here’s a quick-and-easy card I made for Candy:

So You, Little Letters Thinlits, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, congratulations cardBefore I talk about the card, here’s a picture of Candy and me – I gave her this card on Sunday during her meeting with her team.  My team is called InKing Royalty, and Candy’s team is [appropriately] called The SweetHearts (Candy has smartly themed her business around candy).  🙂  Candy’s blog is Stamp Candy (stampcandy.net) – where the stamping is sweet.

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • A Sweet Color Combination.  A sticky-sweet color combination seemed appropriate for this card to Candy.  Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie couldn’t be any sweeter – and together they are possibly too sweet.  The Pacific Point, still bright and cheery, helped to tame the sweetness a bit.  If you like this combination of colors, too, please feel free to save this:Color Inspiration, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Swirling Stars.  I just love the photopolymer set So You in the Occasions Catalog.  These stars are featured in this adorable set – no need to dress them up or layer them differently.  I love them all by themselves.  Because the set is photopolymer, I could easily create a beautiful pattern with the stars because the see-through stamp allowed for perfect placement.  I stamped the larger stars in Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie and a bunch of the smaller stars in Pacific Point.
  • A Bold Banner.  The pink-on-orange banner is ridiculously sweet, but oh-so-appropriate for Candy.  It might hurt the eyes a little bit, but it’s still a special combination.  The letters to spell BRAVO were cropped with the Little Letters Thinlits (easy-peasy), and I let the banner hang over both ends of the center piece.  So fun!

Stamp Sets:  So You  Papers:  Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White  Inks:  Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Pacific Point  Accessories:  Little Letters Thinlits Die, Hexagon punch (for Banner Tip), Stampin’ Dimensionals

Candy might disown me for sharing this lovely picture (her face is not camera- ready), but I think it nicely shows the table of food she had for her team and a peak into her craft space.  🙂

  1. YAY FOR CANDY! I know she loved her card because it is a “Sweetie”! These colors are “sticky ” as you said ,but just perfect for Candy !
I am going to be waiting for the news of that Grand Vacation that she has won and a cute card with Bon Voyage made by you !

  2. Great card for some great accomplishments!

  3. Candy can’t help being so awesome. She is just so great and sweet like Candy. She is also one of my very favorite people. And I <3 her very much. I'm super proud of her even if I am very jelly. Way to go my Candy-muffin! You rock! I can't imagine a better person who deserves all this (besides me). XOXO

  4. Way-2-Go CANDY!!!, Brian what an appropriate card with fun colors.

  5. Beautiful fun card! Huge congrats to Candy!!!

  6. Candy worked very hard to achieve what she has I am sure. Good for you Candy! Keep up the good work – it’s nice to do well doing something you love.

Brian – I’m sure you are a great leader and Candy’s accomplishments must make you burst with pride like a proud parent! Great card and don’t forget, you have earned some extra bragging rights here. LOL

  7. Thank you, Brian, for featuring me on your blog post today. I am thrilled to be part of your team. I could not have achieved any of these accomplishments without all of your coaching and encouragement. You are a great mentor. And I absolutely love my card!

    • Congratulations, Candy! You are a whiz-bang member of the SU team. You ARE very fortunate to have Brian as your upline; I wish he were mine. So, I am “jelly”, too.

      • Thanks, Marcia!

Actually Brian is my second upline. My direct upline, the sweet Sheila Coffey, is a nurse who works nights and weekends, so we aren’t able to speak as much. We have opposite schedules – each of us sleeps while the other is awake! Brian has generously stepped up to help me when Sheila has been unavailable.

And yes, anyone not on Brian’s team should be very “jelly.”

  8. I love the Little Letters Thinlits but mine always leave little circle marks on my cardstock where the ‘poke through holes’ are (you know what I mean). Your letters don’t seem to have the same problem. Please share your secret.

  9. Beautiful card for a beautiful lady. Candy is a rock star

  10. I am so proud of Candy and her success! She makes everything so much fun!

  11. Thanks, everyone, for your kind words! I’m very excited about my Stampin’ Up! life!
