You’re Invited to a GDP Party

The Global Design Project is hosting a really big party this week – and you’re invited.  Let me clarify – we’re hosting a Party themed challenge, and you’re invited to play along.  Woo hoo!  I went with a super-clean and super-simple card, but I love the outcome.  Here’s my card:

You're So Sweet, Marquee Messages, Blooms & Bliss Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, GDP043

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:GDP043

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • You’re Invited to a Mashup.  Do you recognize this sentiment?  If you immediately said, “yes!” then you are either lying or absolutely amazing.  This sentiment is a mashup of two sentiments in Stampin’ Up!’s 2016 Annual Catalog.  I used the “YOU’RE” from You’re So Sweet and the “Invited” from Marquee Messages to create one sentiment that was exactly what I wanted.  You already know I adore the mixture of print and script, so I was thrilled when I found this combination.

  • More White Space, Please.  I really wanted to big, white circle to pop on this card – that’s where the sentiment is, right?  My original design had more dark paper in the background (instead of the panel of Whisper White).  While I love this combination of colors, it was too dark.  When I tried the panel of white in the background, I realized that it didn’t take away from the circle – instead, it helped the circle to pop even more.  Tip:  Play around with white space – it might help you out more than you think.
  • Rich Color Combination.  I love this rich combination of Emerald Envy and Island Indigo.  The colors are playfully formal together, don’t you think?  The main panel of this card is covered with a fun design from Blooms & Bliss Designer Series Paper.  While the paper doesn’t have any Emerald Envy in it, I thought it paired beautifully.  If you also like this combination of colors, feel free to save this:Stampin' Up!
