I was so happy to attend a team member’s club meeting last weekend. When she asked me to make a simple make-and-take, I immediately reached for the NEW Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper for a tall, narrow note card. Here’s the card we made at the club get together:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Shiny Things. This simple card (it’s a 3-1/2″ x 9″ card base, scored at 4-1/2″) showcases three shiny things that don’t cause a mess – I love shiny but have no time for shiny things that stick to everything I own. I think you know what I’m talking about – it starts with a “g” and ends with “litter.” Anyhow, metallic foils are awesome!
- The Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper (one of the new items you can select with a $50 purchase during Sale-a-Bration) comes with glossy white paper in three colors of foil – gold, silver and rose gold. Here’s a look at this amazing paper:
- The layer above that is Sweet Soirée Specialty Designer Series Paper – such a great pack of papers with gorgeous, rich designs. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this pack of Specialty Papers:
- I framed the simple sentiment on this card with a 1-1/2″ Circle punch of Silver Foil. What a perfect accent for two papers that are designed with such great silver accents!
- Adding Color. The white, glossy base of the Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper is perfect – there’s really no need to add color for a gorgeous card. If you really want to step it up a bit, you can always color the paper with any of Stampin’ Up!’s classic inks. To add a touch of Calypso Coral to this foil-striped paper, I rolled the panel with a Sponge Brayer. I added a consistent amount of ink on this card and then wiped the panel with a Stampin’ Up! paper towel (page 234 of the Annual Catalog). During the demonstration, though, I created an ombré effect by starting at one side and rolling up to get a lighter look at the top of the card with less ink. If you don’t have a Sponge Brayer, be sure to add one to your list!
- The Envelope. The envelope for this narrow note card is pulled from the Whisper White Narrow Note Cards & Envelopes – you HAVE to have these! On several occasions, I’ve glued a piece of Designer Series Paper (cropped with a 2-1/2″ Circle punch) on the inside of the envelope. Since I was working with a thick Specialty Designer Series Paper on this project, though, I covered the back flap of the envelope and trimmed around the edges of the flap. Look at all of the shine on this card and envelope flap:

And if the sweet card wasn’t sweet enough, here’s a fun look at the wonderful ladies I crafted with last weekend:

Brian, I love everything about this card. It is so pretty and sparkly, and the best part is that it is easy…or at least you make it sound that way. I’m sure you had great fun with those ladies. I have never heard of SU paper towels, so I checked my annual catalog to see what I’ve been missing. Page 234 doesn’t exist…so you’re pulling my leg, right? Can’t wait to hear what I’m missing. Enjoy your day!
Tee hee! Thanks for your comments, HJ! I’ve been using that SU! paper towels bit for several years – always fun. 🙂 Glad you like this project – it was very easy to pull together. <3
Good morning Brian! Cute simple card and a great way to showcase that gorgeous DSP without breaking the bank. Towels on page 234 you say.. Hmmm…. Is that a sneaky teaser?
Thanks for your comments, Debbie! These little notecards are adorable and, as you point out, don’t use up a lot of Designer Series Papers. I’ve been throwing out the “Stampin’ Up! paper towels” for years – I can’t help myself. 🙂
Beautiful cards with little work. My kinda card. OH, I have to stock up on my SU paper towels.
You should stock up! I don’t want it to retire at the end of this catalog cycle. <3
Love this card Brian! Can’t wait to try coloring the DSP. That’s twice I have fallen for the SU Paper Towel (smile)
Tee hee! I don’t know why I find that so funny. <3 Thanks for your comments, Pam!
Foiled again! This is such gorgeous use of the pretty paper and metallic touches!
Thanks so much, Mary! I love these papers – great Sale-a-Bration options.
Beautiful Spring card Brian, this papers are really beautiful especially the foil ones, how lovely they look with a bit of color sponged on them. And, as always, I love how you layer your papers so perfectly.
Thank you for sharing the picture of this fun group of ladies, stamping with you must be a real treat.
Big hugs, my dear.
Maria.
Thanks, Maria! These papers really are beautiful. The ladies were so much fun! Thanks for your comment, my friend.
Absolutely beautiful Brian. I really need to get several of those foam brayers. Or maybe my Stampin’ Daddy will give me a couple for my Stampin’ birthday on the 24th ?
Thanks so much, Robbye! Had I known you needed one, I would have added it to my last order. Honestly. <3
Gorgeous!
Thanks, Linda! What do you think about my card? 🙂
I can’t wait to case this one, love everything about it!
Thanks so much, Katrina! I’m sure it would be lovely as a standard-sized card, but I had to go small so I wouldn’t run out of paper for the club meeting. 🙂
You got me, Brian! After reading your post I got up from my nice comfy spot in front of the fire to look at the paper towels on page 234! You’re a silly, silly man and I love it?
