It’s time for another CASE the Designer Challenge with the Global Design Project. There are so many places to find inspiration for the projects we make – I love the opportunity to create a project that’s inspired by the art of my fellow team members on GDP. Always a joy! This week we are CASEing a super-sweet birthday card by my over-the-top, talented friend Allison Okamitsu. Here’s my card:
And here’s the banner for this week’s GDP challenge – the card by Allison – that inspired my project today:

When we CASE (Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit), we find inspiration in a project – theme, color combinations, layout, products used – and create our own project by making changes to make it our own. When CASEing, it’s important to give credit to the original designer – it doesn’t take away from your project at all.
Allison’s sweet, strawberry-adorned birthday card inspired me to create a celebratory card with a similar layout of four elements positioned in a grid. Like Allison, I positioned my sentiment on the base of the card and used the same paper as a backdrop for my card, .
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Wood Words Bundle. The “star” of this card is the Wood Words Bundle – each of these four stars is stamped with an image from the Wood Words stamp set and cropped with a die from the coordinating Wood Crate Framelits Dies. While both of these products are carrying forward into Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog, the bundled pricing of the bundle goes away at the end of May. If you’ve been eyeing this bundle, be sure to grab it up now before the 10% savings disappears. 🙂 Here’s a look at the Wood Words Bundle:
- Rooted in Nature. If the Wood Words is the star of this card, then Rooted in Nature is certainly the sentimental favorite, right? 🙂 This sentiment, which is wonderful, is from the Rooted in Nature stamp set from the upcoming 2018 Annual Catalog. What an amazing set! I love each of these sentiments and each of these arboreal images. I can’t wait for you to be able to order this bundle when the new catalog is released in June. Here’s a look at this must-have and soon-to-be-your-favorite bundle bundle:
- Color Combination. Like Allison’s card, my card features a “red, white and blue” color scheme that doesn’t feel like a Fourth of July parade. My “red” is Lovely Lipstick, a vibrant and new 2018-2020 In Color. I added a touch of Lemon Lime Twist to further pull this away from feeling patriotic (not that there’s anything wrong with that). If you are inspired by this combination of Lovely Lipstick, Lemon Lime Twist and Night of Navy, please save this:
I first introduced you to the 2018-2020 In Colors earlier this month – if you’d like to read more about these amazing new colors (and some suggested color combinations), please CLICK HERE.

I’m am so itchy to get my hands on the new catalog! Your sneak peaks leave me drooling over the thoughts of all these gorgeous new stamp sets and bundles. Today’s card is fabulous (as always). Now I’m off to apply for a job so that I can buy all the stuff I know I’m going to want from the new catty. LOL
Haha! I’m so glad my project are inspiring, Grace, but a job would just take you away from your stamps. Let’s rethink this a bit. 🙂
