New Ink Pad Tips & a Great Join Promotion

I’ve always said that there are THREE hobbies in tn this cardmaking hobby of our – we love collecting supplies, creating projects and organizing our goodies. New products are always such fun! After we unpack our items from the box, we get to open up the new product and organize it on our shelf. Such fun!

Before I share some tips for getting your ink pads labeled and ready-to-go, here are some basic stats about these wonderful, new pads:

  • Fast drying, dye-based ink
  • Acid free
  • Flip top for upside-down storage: pads stay inked during storage
  • The stackable cases are smaller, but the ink pad inside is the same size.
  • Firm foam pad lasts longer than felt pads and provides exceptional ink coverage, especially with solid-image stamps
  • Can be re-inked with matching Classic Stampin’ Ink Refills
  • Coordinates with Stampin’ Up! cardstock, markers, and embellishments
  • The ink formula in the new pads has been improved to:
    • Reduce ink bubbles.
    • Help you get a smooth coating of ink on the stamp.
    • Help lay down the ink better.

After you remove the shrink wrap from one of Stampin’ Up1’s new ink pads, there are some steps to get the pad ready for use. Once we apply some of the stickers (found on the bottom of the pad), we are ready to store the pads away so they easy to use when we need them. Here’s a quick summary of what to do with the labels:

Adding Labels to Stampin' Up! Ink Pads, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingUnless you cut up the labels in foreign languages to use on your pad, there are two you want to use – the color name goes on the front of your ink pad (just below the notch where you open the pad), and the solid label goes on the inside of your pad so you know what color you are working with when the pad is open.

To effectively apply the sticker to the outside of the pad, you have to stabilize the pad on its side. With the old pads, I held the pad between my knees to stabilize it while I added the sticker. With these pads, I had a different idea – and I’m excited to share it with you today. On my desk in my craft room, I have a little mount to hold my cell phone so I can always see the screen when it lights up from an email or phone call. So handy. I flipped the cell phone holder around, and that gave me the perfect holder for my ink pads.

Here’s a graphic of my tip to use a cell phone holder to stabilize your pads while you add the label to the front:

Just flip it up and over before sliding it into place. Same when you are closing it. I still want to push it, but that can ruin the pad.

    • Yay! I’m so glad you like the tips, Terry! It really made it so much easier for me to get these pads in order. <3 You'll love the new pads! <3

  5. Guess I should pay more attention to the new pads. Got the names on all with no issue – didn’t even notice the solid one for inside – and how many times have people said “which color is is”? So glad I get your blog.

    Thanks a million – again ! ! !

    • So happy to share, Roxy! I hope you still have the stickers (some people just peal off the piece they need from the bottom of the pad). If you’ve tossed them, you can always add a thin strip of cardstock – might be easier to glue in than the sticker. 🙂 Thanks for your comments! <3

  6. I just searched for and found a cell phone holder my sister gave me eons ago. It now lives in my craft room by my ink pads. Brian, you are brilliant!!!
